Should I worry that my daily carbs are coming in under 30 most day? I thought that 50 was the 'sweet spot for weight loss'. Do I need to up them??? And how??

Wow - that's a really low figure. To add carbs then you can add some more fruit or veg - just one apple average size has 21g of carbs. Or a cup of boiled and mashed sweet potato is 50g carbs.

Hiya marks daily apple says between 50 and 100g I think for weightloss. I personally at the min try and have under 50g found this was creeping up though and realised I was chomping on dried fruit which is very high.

Feel free to friend me on mfp if you want to check out my diary xxx

Hi, going to try and go primal today but was going to have lots of fruit. Is this ok ? Just started reading blueprint but only a few pages in. Going to ease myself into this diet. Was going to have fruit for breakfast. No idea about lunch then chicken, peas, cauliflower, brocolli and carrots for dinner with mash (bad I know but can't think of anything else ) and gravy.

I'd be careful about having just fruit for breakfast; if there's no fat/protein at a meal then your blood sugar will rise and fall more dramatically which may lead to hunger/cravings down the road. x

I think you are right. Thanks for that. I had fruit this morning and ended up having a frusli bar, not ideal. I need to go shopping and make sure I have the right food on the house before doing this I think. X

Thank you for replying. I didn't think you could have sausages on a primal style diet or have you modified it ? I love sausages x

Try looking for sausages with a high % of meat 96%+ and gluten free ones - or you could ask your local butcher if they make - 100% pork sausages - some do.

following primal blueprint and experimenting with the 5:2 fasting diet

Thanks, it is starting to make sense. My biggest downfall is chocolate as once I start that is it. I thought if I cut out processed rubbish that would stop the cravings for chocolate. Does that sound right ? X

Lovely, will have to check butchers out. Thanks

Thank you. I don't drink. I wonder if dark bounty chocolate is ok. Ha, that is cheating. Today has gone to pot. One bit of chocolate has turned into more than one if you know what I mean. May start my own diary on here to motivate myself. i guess I can tweak the diet to suit. Hmmm.

GF or butcher-made pure meat sausages are great. You can also make your own sausage patties by mixing a spice blend with ground meat.

When I am eating properly, my cravings go out the window but if I have sugar or too much fruit then they get really bad! Paleo/primal is done by different people in different ways so you can find what suits you. For instance once every month or two I will eat a small portion of homemade daal as lentils don't disagree with me. I think any way of eating has to be liveable by the person doing it. :)

I can't have one bit of cadburys, I sugar binge and then carb binge - it's all the same to your body - whether it's pasta, bread (even wholemeal) or kitkats, they are quickly broken down into sugars. I have to cut them out totally to regulate my eating. But I do buy the little bars of 85% dark chocolate from Aldi (in a pack) and have one with a herbal tea at supper - it is wonderfully rich and the one bar is enough or I have it melted with some berries. It's cheap too.
When you're on the clean eating wagon, it's so easy to control cravings - they don't happen for the most part - except for around totm when adding some potato, sweet potato or starchy veg seems to help with sweet cravings.
