It's the best part of £24k can't afford it and nhs arnt giving me any help at all I lost 15 stone on the LL diet which never cost the nhs a penny n now when i need there help I get turned down. Anyone know of a way to help speed things up I need a tummy tuck arm lift thigh lift n breast reduction.

Hey chick, I'm just about to have abdominoplasty (a tummy tuck) on the NHS, I do need all of the other procedures you mentioned but you only really have a chance with the tummy and breasts as arms and leg lifts are considered cosmetic. Have you been to your GP for referral?

Hi sugar_lipswales, congrats on your amazing weight loss!
I've lost 95lbs now, I'm down to 180lbs from 275lbs and I'm starting to worry about needing a tummy tuck. Can I ask how long it took to get the go-ahead, from your GP referring you?

Best of luck with the op :) xxx

Op went really well, not so much painful as bloody awkward lol I actually got turned down twice because I wasn't at the exact weight they wanted me to be and a surgeon on the decision panel on my 3rd referral decided to give me a chance. It's a hard old slog but you need to fight for it, jump through all the hoops you need to because it is worth it! Go to see your GP and get referred, you'll never know if you don't try!

I don't know how il ever get to the 28 bmi they want as my gym has said there is hardly any body fat on me now all my excess weight is skin. The plastic surgery doctor said there could be up to 2/3 stone of it so il just have keep going in to the doctor every month till I get it.

Hi does anyone know where you can get the pct info for your area regarding body surgery , I know my dr would support me cos I have been dieting for years and since 2010 have lost ten st need to lose another 4 ish I am 5 ft 7 will be roughly 11st 5 will that be low enough!
This is terrifying I can't not get finance for it and I def can't afford it :(

You all are quite fortunate to have the opportunity for these surgeries covered. I live in the United States and have pretty decent health care coverage through my employer, but my insurance would never pay for elective surgery. I've wanted a tummy tuck since I was 23 and gave birth... almost 18 years ago. It costs about $10,000 here. :sigh:

What are the requirements to have the surgery? I mean, do they require you to be at a certain height-weight ratio or bmi, and then maintain that for 6 months or a year?

What is the recovery time before one can move without assistance, go back to work that requires standing, etc...?

Thank you for your input. I wish you all the best on getting the surgery and recovery.

Just got back from my free consultation with the hospital group. Looking at £20k to have tummy breasts n arms done. All have to be single ops, so 2-4wks off work for each. It was one of the worst appointments I've ever been to. So rushed, couldn't understand the consultant and the whole thing was really unprofessional. Not what I expected at all.
When I said it wouldn't be till next year they couldn't get me out the door quick enough to get onto the next person. This is my opinion of the clinic/consultant I went to, other areas of the company may be better.
I've got a consultation booked with another hospital on Tuesday.
