    Yup

    throw in -

Pack of mince, 1 chopped onion, spoon of chopped garlic, slug of red wine, beef stock, mixed herbs & a tin of tomatoes

you can optionally add chopped anchovies and fried off lardons aswell if you like, along with diced peppers/mushrooms etc.

Cook on low for 8-12 hours or high for 5-7 hours.

I batch cook it and use it for chilli, lasagne, spaghetti, jackets, cottage pie etc. i don't ever bother browning the mince or the onions.

    another version is:
a pack of mince, onions, mushrooms, garlic, chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, 1/2 tsp sugar, herbs, splash of lea + perrins. (optional: baked beans)

I would brown off the mice and rinse it under cold water to get rid of some of the excess fat. It's surprising how much is in it!

    No problem Tracey.

The basic sauce is dead easy... you can vary what everyone has suggested really but just make it to your own taste but the mince thing is really very important.

My mum always rinsed her mince (she lost 100lbs through WW when I was younger) and it wasn't until I moved to England and started eating my mother in laws cooking that I really appreciated the rinsed mince lol! You wouldn't believe the amount of fat that comes out of it! Even lean mince

    Enjoy it!

    Lentil and tomato soup
    2 tbsp olive oil
    1 large onion, finely chopped
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    150g red lentils, washed
    570ml vegetable stock
1 400g tin of chopped tomatoes
    2 tsp tomatoe purée
2 tbsp finely chopped fresh thyme/ or 1 dried
salt and freshly ground black pepper
    juice of 1/2 lemon

Place all but the lemon juice in slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours. Add juice just before serving..
It is really yummy and freezes well.

Just to say, I have a great slow cooker recipe book by Sarah Lewis I think, you can get them on amazon. There's a recipe for mince in there I think. Normally I chuck in whatever's in my fridge/cupboard to be honest - carrot is nice chopped up small, or peppers or sweetcorn. I like to try different herbs and spices (ginger being a favourite). Mmmmmm mince.
I love my slow cooker but can't use it til I've finished LL *sob*

Yes I was for some unknown reason torturing myself with food porn one day. Then I realised what I was doing and stopped!
