Asafoetida Powder - Fao Bilsat

Good Afternoon.

I have been browsing Petes Recipe Thread and it is awesome.

I like my spicy food.

He uses a spice called asafoetida powder

Anyone know i can get this from as its very hard to find in supermarkets

Looks like it will be online

If you have any local you may find it in an asian supermarket or just had a quick google you can get it online too

yeah i looked online but it is amazingly expensive. Just orderedd asafoetida and fenugreek or something and inc delivery it was £10

try theasiancookshop.co.uk ive never used them but the price's seems reasonable for 100g of asafetida & 100g of fenugreek its £1.85 then £2.99 delivery

where abouts in the country are you? aslong as your not mega rural you'll probably have an asian supermarket somewhere near.

Just outside Falkirk mate, there is an Asian shop but they dont sell it for some reason.

Asafoetida has a flavour like Leeks, so you can cook most dishes without it.
It does however have the added benefit of reducing flatulence.
Other name for it is Hing.

Saw this in sainsburys today
