Rosemary Conley GI Jeans diet, help needed.

Hi everyone. New to the site but could really use some help. I recently found one of my mums old diet books from when she used to go to Rosemary Conley classes. It is the 'GI Jeans Diet' book. I have done the 2 week 'quick start diet' and found it fine to do and i lost 10 lbs over the 2 weeks which im pretty pleased with. It was all very easy with the meals set out and calories counted for you but i have just started the next main diet and i am finding it really awkward to do.

The first diet was easy for me, just sticking to 1200 calories a day, very simple but now i have apparentley got to up my calorie intake to my basal metabolic rate. Fair enough, so i go look in the tables section to see how much i should be having and it says 2600! I thought it was going to be simple but i am finding this part of the diet very hard as i have to try and figure out how i can make up 1100 calories a day. Not only that but im eating so much that im finding it hard to see how im actually doing anything. Anyone have any similar problems or have any tips for me in how i up my calorie intake by 1100? It says in the book to just have more potatoes/pasta/bread etc but are the only things you can have extra? Im so confused.

Do you have a loads to lose, because that is a huge jump. When I was on it I was about 13.7, I'm 5ft 4 and I went up to 1580 calories per day after the kickstart.

You usually go onto 1500 calories.
This would be made up with 1 treat of 100 calories of anything. Also a glass of wine, if you like wine and other calories would be made up in the 5% or less food.
    Hope this is of help.

I have just done my first week on Rosemary Conley, weigh in tonight.
I`m on the 1200 calorie quickstart. Think it says to add 400 calories a day for 2 weeks after that.
    Sorry if thats no help.

Hello, sorry its taken so long to get back to you but thanks for the help. Yes minime, i do have lots to lose (I weighed 21.10 stone when i began the diet about 7 weeks ago). Just to let you know i decided to just stick to the 1300-1500 calories a day diet rather than try and go to 2600 a day as i would have found that too hard (and cost me a lot) and have found it fine to do. I have currently lost 2 stone 1 pound in 7 weeks so things are looking pretty good atm so im just gonna stick with what im doing. Thanks for your help.

I`m on 1400 a day ( 100 of those a high fat treat) Have 9lbs to lose then will maybe rethink my target.
But that puts me at the top end of healthy bmi for my height. ( guide only) lol

I have had a week of losing 3.5lb and one where I lost 1/2lb. I have found that if I eat a lot of bread, even staying within the calories it does make my loss smaller. I seem to have a bloated feeling and retain water.

Hello once again, thanks a lot for the kind comments. Things are still going good, now at 18 stone 4lbs as of last thursday, after about 13 weeks i think. tbh, thought i would be craving after all those nice foods (butter and marmite on WHITE toast is a particular fave of mine) but havent really, which has made things go a lot more smoothly i think. Good luck everyone with your weight losses, c ya.
