Sammy's road to slimdom!!

Hello Slim n Savers!!

I've been doing Slim and Save for a week now and loving it, but decided to start this diary to keep me going in the right direction!!

A little about myself...

I lost 3 stone on the Cambridge diet a couple of years ago before my wedding and felt great... but slowly the weight crept back on and I was back to my starting point.
Really annoyed with myself and decided to start a healthy eating regime to lose weight. It came off sooooooooooooooooooooooo slowly, and then stopped coming off altogether... Which I then realised was because I was pregnant!!

I then had a massive malteasers craze!! I'm really not sure why!! Mad! I put on 4 stone during pregnancy and had a little 6 pound baby!
Hmmm.

I lost a little bit of the weight but got stuck a stone over my pre-preggy weight. It just wouldn't budge!! Grr!

So I decided to go back onto the Cambridge diet-but then stumbled across this minimins forum and discovered slim and save.

Only my husband and my best friend know I'm doing this diet at the moment. I will eventually tell people but really would like to at least get a stone out the way and be fully in this diet past any side effects before telling people. I found with the Cambridge diet that a lot of people who didn't understand had a negative view of it and couldn't help but give their opinions. Many found it crazy, but if you've never struggled with your weight then I guess you would find a vlcd crazy.

I'd like another baby maybe next year or the year after but really would like to be down at my target weight before we start trying!!

So here goes:

Starting Weight: 13st,7lbs - 1st September 2013.

Will aim to get as much off as possible in these next 12 weeks.

Target Weight: 9st 3lbs - but really 9st 7lb but am aiming lower so that the 4lbs I gain on the refeed programme will take me to my happy target and then hopefully I can maintain from 9st,7lb.

I'm 5'4" so I should theoretically be anything between 8st -10st ish.

Mini goals:

September 14lb loss challenge

To be close to 10 stone by Christmas

To get into the 12's
To get into the 11's
To get into the 10's
To get into the 9's

To get into my size 10 Next jeans that I've only worn once!!

Wish me luck!!

Xx

Week one -
I survived a coffee shop visit with friends guzzling only water while they drank creamy hot chocs with cake!

I survived two 4am wake ups from my bubba without a sugary snack to keep me going.

I survived a my nieces 4th birthday party without even licking a party ring or chocolate finger. Let alone avoiding the birthday cake.

Weigh in this morning:

Drum roll please...

Lost 8lbs!!
Yaaay!!
Very pleased with that!

Am now 12st,13lbs.

Challenges to face so far this week:
Today I have a family meal at my mums so have decided on a plan with my hubby to take a chicken salad and hope there's no questions asked - I'll just say I'm being good.

Coffee and cake at baby toddler group - will avoid the cake!

I can do it! Xx

Well done for surviving the coffee shop. I quite often have a bottle of fizzy water and a black americano. Not sure why I have both but I enjoy it and don't feel like I'm doing without. I also like the fact that many coffee shops put the calories for their cakes on display - I won't mention any oarticular food stuff but one slice of something in Marks and Spencers cafe was over 800 calories!!! For a snack!!

Huge congrats on the weight loss! You must be chuffed :)

Chicken salad sounds like a good way to go at your mum's. Good luck for the week ahead!

800 calories!! Jeeeeeeez!
That's gotta be some cake! Lol.

Am back from my mums and managed to just put chicken, salad and a slice of ham on my plate. I politely declined the bread and sauces and didn't drink the glass of wine that was poured for me. I just said I was being good.

My sister cut me a small piece of cake and said only a small bit as you're being good.
I said thank you and took it outside and fed it to my nieces and nephew. I thought I'd gotten away with it until one of them dashed past me and into the house, and before you could say 'baby wipe' everyone could see the chocolate smeared little face!! Ha ha!!
I said I had shared it with them and got away with that one! Ha ha. Phew!!

So I'm one week in. That's gone pretty quick to be honest!!
I have 2 packs left for today to have and going to treat myself to a tiny bit of sugar free jelly.

Hope you've all had a good Sunday xx

Fantastic handling of the cake scenario! (And the 800 calorie one did look nice - but not 800 calorie nice!)

Hi sammy, fantastic loss. Well done!

I'm starting next week and I'm actually looking forward to it. I know it's going to be hard but I'm hoping it'll actually work!

Well done for not giving into temptation at your mums. That's the hardest for me when there is a family gathering. It all centres around food.

Keep posting! Would love to see how you get on. X

Fantastic weigh in Sammy-well done-8lbs is fantastic!!!

....and all those temptations you avoided-you're a survivor alright?

As I've just read on my positive thoughts app-"make the most of yourself because that is all there is if you"...keep going, those size 10 jeans aren't that far away.

Thanks guys!! Am so excited... Now I just wanna get into the 11's!!

Family scenarios are horrible to get through!! But once they're done I feel good that I didn't cave! Xx

Good luck lizzy, I'm enjoying this diet so far, not struggling yet! Am hoping I stay this way.
These forums really help plus there's plenty of tips to help you through!! Good luck xx

Today I've survived two meetings with friends and declined biscuits both times!! I half told one of my friends that I was on a strict diet but didn't really go into details!!

We've planned our baby group mums Christmas night out at the end of November!! - am hoping to be significantly slimmer by then!! Please please please please!! It's just under 11 weeks away!!

Am going to have a chicken stir fry with fry light and mushrooms, beanshoots, cabbage, carrot and onion. - I think I'm allowed all that! And a dash of soy sauce!
Right, rumble rumble - better get cracking. Baby has just fallen asleep!! :)

Hope everyone else has had a good day!!
Xx

Wow Sammy - declining biscuits! Way to go! I had to decline a banana today - it's tougher with 'healthy' foods because people don't understand why you can't have it. I was starving this afternoon and someone who has previously provided me with a banana offered me one and I had to say that I was on a strict diet. You could see people looking confused as to how strict the diet must be to not allow fruit... The guys I work with have never known me at more than around 12 stone and don't know that I used to be 19...

It's hard isn't it, my friend went oh have some fruit if you're being good. I said no thanks and that I'd have a shake later and she went 'oh Sammy no' and I went its ok I'm having stir fry for dinner and last night I had chilli and the night before cottage pie! Lol, think that threw her a bit! :)
Well done for staying strong too! I blooming love bananas! Ha ha! Banana shake it is!! Hee hee xx

Me too-love bananas but just have to remind ourselves they're on the healthy plan when we move to maintenance!!!

Have to travel overnight this week with work on Thursday/Friday-always a testing time for me food wise but half the battle is psyching myself up for it-so I'm nearly there already!

That stir fry sounds yummy Sammy...my chilli con carne however wasn't:)

Have a friends wedding( well renewing her vows) on the 28th Sept so until then its 4 packs.....is it Slim and Save that has those wafer type bars?

Yay on you 1st week loss

glad you started a blog too

well done on throwing your friend off to...hehe...

Only my hubby knows ins and out of diet everyone else I just tell them I am on a diet...

Keep up being 100% it pays off:)

Yep I haven't tried them though. They weren't on the normal list - but they're on the product list or something I think-they are definitely somewhere on the website!!

It's hard going away overnight. Before I had my baby I used to travel all over doing random shifts and sometimes I'd end up being awake for 30 odd hours! The only way I coped was to think of using my shakes in a 24 period - so I always started at 10am and could have my allowance spaced out however I liked within that time and then once the following 10am came round I could have another shake and start all over again in a new 24hour day!

Good luck with your work trip, plan it well and stay focused! If you have access to Internet come on the forums if you feel a wobble coming on! :) xx

Oh I'll be in the forum alright-don't they say you replace one addiction with another?Minimins instead of food :):):);)

Great day for me,how was yours?

Ha ha lainey I know, we clearly have addictive personalities!!
Yeah lynzi I waffled a little bit about the general jist of low carbs and then Eden saved the day with a cry so I could focus on her and stop the conversation short!!
Thanks myyear, am super chuffed! Xx

Have a great day - was aiming for an early night but all went a bit wrong once I started cleaning the kitchen...which led to scrubbing the floor... Which slowly moved into the dining room and ahhh!! Managed to stop myself - its like I'm nesting again!!

Only bugger is my blooming scales ran out of batteries - they started giving me false (but lovely) readings - 11,10! Yeah I wish!! Then died altogether!!
I replaced batteries and then it took ages to get a constant reading. Am hoping this doesn't effect anything as I know it's best to weigh on the same set each time, they were only a pound out each time but would rather an accurate weight.

Sweet dreams everyone of chocolate shakes and Truffa bars!! Xxx

If you've finished with your house and are getting restless you can always come over and clean mine. I'm so kind...
