Less of liz!!!

Ok. So I just turned 30 and am fed up of being big! I have been very overweight for about 10 years. I spent my whole of my 20s battling to lose weight on various diets and I don't want to spend the next 10 years doing the same. Why is it so hard?!?

I'm hoping ss will help me lose weight quickly to keep me motivated (1/2 lb a week just doesn't do it for me) and reset my relationship and addiction to food.

A bit about me: I'm 30 :( I'm married ( hubby seriously needs to lose weight too but he needs to come to that conclusion himself) and I have 2 boys, one 5 years and the other is 4 months old.

Reasons I want to lose weight: to look and feel better, and to live longer for my family

Start weight : 15st 6 lbs- although I'm not happy with this number, I had guessed at being 16st so I have already lost weight before even starting, hehe! :) I am doing the simplicity plan but will have a few lifestyle days here and there when needed.

Here we go........

Breakfast- dark choc truffa bar - was a bit sweet for the morning!
Lunch- chilli pack
Snack- spicy spaghetti pack
Dinner- chicken with mushrooms and spinach

Hello!

I'm sure you'll love s&s. Have you done a vlcd before?
If not, just be prepared for the first week to be hard, take each day as it comes and then after that there'll be no stopping you!
I found the first two days really easy because I had the buzz of doing something new, day three was tougher and day four was the worse for me, but once I got through that my hunger diminished, my house was starting to get spotless and clutter free (from distracting myself!) and once weigh day comes around you get the initial buzz all over again!!
Make use of the forums for distraction! Fill up on water and space the packs out! I always have my last shake as a hot drink with milk and hot water about 9.30/10 before bed as it fills me up through the night.
I'm now at the stage where I don't really want it but force it down me as its not good to miss packs.

Good luck on your journey hun! You sound determined!!

Hi sammy!

No, I've never done a vlcd before so its all new to me! I think I'll be the same as you in that today and tomorrow will be ok but after that will be hard, I really don't want to give up before I've started though so I'm hoping to keep my determination to get me through.

My problem is that I don't like shakes. I have a bit of a thing about drinking anything thick. I only drink water, green tea or wine! I'm not keen on porridge either so breakfasts will be a bit tricky. This is why I had a bar as I assumed it would be like like a cereal bar, but found its not at all! Might have to buy more porridge next month and just force it down! Or experiment with the oat cookies I've read about.

Thanks for your support and advice. X

Thanks sammy.

Day one has been good. The packs are actually quite nice. Could have done with some chips, cheese and sourd cream with the chilli though! Haha. I haven't been too hungry either so I'm hoping it'll all go ok in the coming weeks.

How has your day been?

Just had my dinner and was pleasently surprised at how much 100g of chicken was and 200g cooked veg. I feel relatively satisfied, thought id be starving by now!

Day 1 DONE :)

Well done on day one!!

Yes it does work out quite a lot!! I bought a salad bag yesterday and it was 180g so I poured it all on my plate - it was so so much! Much more than I would normally have!!
I've made some sugar free jelly for later! Yum!

There's a recipe on here for swede chips.. They are yummy. I've had them a couple of times.

I'm just about to have my dinner then a hot shake before bed. Yum. Xx

I love my salad and raw veg. If I feel snacky during the day I have some of my raw veg allowance - yum!

I'm not so keen on salad but I do love veg. One thing that has put me off vlcd s and low carb diets in the past is the lack of veg, so this is why I liked this diet as you can have some. I put some of the mushrooms in the chilli and it really bulked it out so it really helped.

I was planning on only doing the simplicity and just doing the lifestyle when necessary but think I might do it more often. Although the packs are actually quite tasty, I definitely prefer fresh food over processed stuff.

Still feeling quite positive. I can't wait for weigh in next week. I'm going to be really strict and only weigh in once a week.

That's such a good idea with the mushrooms!! I'll definitely try that out!! Xx

Yum - I love my cooked veg too! The mushrooms sound good. Yesterday I had steamed green beans abd steamed asparagus with my spag bol pack - it was lovely!

Oooh, sounds nice. I still need to work out what veg I can and can't have.

Had the slag Bol for lunch. Not sure about it, tasted really acidic.

Day 2 done

I'm not really experiencing any bad side effects yet, wonder if ill be a lucky one? Am quite tired though. The only thing I'm struggling with is the small variety of food. I'm not really enjoying the bars, which is odd as I love chocolate! I find everything has a slightly acidic taste, maybe that's part of the diet rather than the food?

Will do simplicity for a week to get going then think ill do the lifestyle so I can have a bigger variety.

I've been inputting the food on the meal planner. Both days I've been under my calories and carbs which is good. What does everyone else do? Do you sometimes eat a bit more veg or protein until you get closer to target or just leave it?

Yay day two! Well done! The first week will be over before you know it!
To be honest I'm on week 3 now and apart from a few chills I haven't had any other side effects yet - oh and bad breath! But not too bad that people seemed repulsed!

I tend to pretty much make 650 cals but I usually do the lifestyle plan. A couple of times I've gone slightly over. Quite often I'm about 50 lower. I leave it like that. I think it likes you to have anything between 550-650 a day so as long as you hit that then that's your maximum weight losing calorie intake. Anything less or over inhibits it.

Xx

Thanks sammy.

So if I have a little more veg on a hungry day it's not the end if the world as long as I don't go over calories or carbs? Sounds good. X
