Not Just a Food Journal -

Aaleigha

soon to be mother of the bride
OK I have placed my order and will be starting this on Monday

any help and advice will be more than welcome

I would like to know if there is a group of people on here that have formed a buddy group - if so can I join :) if not is there anyone that would like a new buddy H x

I cannot believe that a new diary has had 57 views and not one response
looks like I might be doing this on my own

so first proper entry
yesterday I went low carb and will be doing that over the weekend as well - this I am hoping will stop the process of going into ketosis being to noticable (headaches etc)
I am also out today to get some vitamins Bcomplex and D with calcium just to makes sure I have adequate especially of vitB12 as I am always borderline low on that particular vitamin

I am still wondering which would be best
having ONLY packs or having packs and a low carb meal
and should I split the packs so I can have more 'meals' a day

advice on those two issues by people having done the plan or those who are doing it would be extremely valuable

Hi there,

it seems a bit quiet on here at the moment. I tend to read more then post, but thought I'd say hi.

I've been on plan for 3 weeks now. I lost 8lbs the first week and haven't weighed since, I'm trying to trust in the diet. I can obsess if I weigh too often.

As for which plan. I tend to mix things up. Although do use lifestyle days when I'm at work. Usually having a big salad and half a bag of s&s crisps.

i haven't split any packs personally. I sometimes struggle to get 4 in now I'm in ketosis to be honest.

My tip- sugar free jelly is great to have in for when I get the nibbles (i.e bored!)

Good luck

The first time I did this I just did 4 packs a day and lost all the weight but found it a very emotional journey when I could finallly eat food again and hence put weight back on. This time around I am doing 3 packs and a meal with veg allowance and I am finding it totally fine. I am pretty sure you shouldn't split the packs because your body needs to not be eating every few hours but I am no expert so don't take my word on that. They say try and space the packs out is what I thought. My tip is drink lots of water, I average 3 litres a day. Good luck, it is very quiet on here but there are a few of us around.

Wrote a long post thanking you for your support
I have been low carb for one day and have lost a pound of water weight or is natural fluctuation

tomorrow I plan on
one shake
then off to do my voluntary stint - art group with dementia sufferers
then for lunch another shake
dinner will be small protein with veggies - not sure on what veggies I can have as I cant find a list BUT am having asparagus and mushrooms - if that is wrong its day one so not the end of the world and can get different veg for later in the week
in the evening I will have a final shake or bar depending how much I need what will feel like a treat

hoping low carbing yesterday and today will mean it will take less time to get into ketosis so wont be feeling hungry

will report in with first day feeling etc tomorrow evening

have a great week everyone

oh I will be weighing on Mondays and Fridays (used to be a daily weigher and cant wait for a whole week - if the plan works for me after two weeks I will move to weekly weigh ins)

Hx

That sounds like a gd plan hun :) lifestyle days 100g protein such as 2 eggs or 2 quorn sausages n 200g veg :) unm the list of veg think u can find them on the official s n s website o tend to stik to swede, mushrooms, pepper n cauli the basics so i dnt get confused lol hehe....;) hehe we can soo do this :) xx

Asparagus(tips only) and mushrooms are fine. Hope your low carb will mean you sail the first few days. I was ok, just a little dizzy on about day 3. Just had more to drink and I was fine. I think. Some recommend adding salt to packs if that happens.

good luck, sure you'll do great :)

thanks for the confirmation of the foods - as for tips only I never eat more than the tips
and I see you lost 8lb on your first week - thats fantastic - hope I see a similar result on the first week as I know on a regular plan weeks 2-3 seem to be quite hard for me on a psychological level - will need to keep busy I have loads of art prep I need to do to take stuff on holiday with me
and YES I am away for two weeks but will still be sticking as closely to S and S as I can - my meals may change round and I might have eggs for breakfast with mushrooms and spinach for breakfasts as I will be doing walking so might just need that full feeling - but will see how I go

H x

Thank you just added myself to the list = will be updating it for my start weight tomorrow - this is just what I need I find the second and third weeks to be psychologically difficult so to have the challenge to cover my week two is brilliant :)

right day one of s and s
having low carbed for a couple of days I am hoping it will help
will let you all know what the first day is like during this evening - unless I find it really hard then will come back for support and to take my mind off food for a while - I have a feeling I will need to remind myself WHY I need to do this

well I have had my first disaster :) typical of me really
off I go whizzing the shake with my powerful tri blade turbo = and I wanted to add ice - left whizzer in the jug and got out the ice cubes banged the cube thingy on the work surface and knocked it over
so I had half a shake left - hubby has some whey powder so I added a small amount in to make sure I have the protein

will most likely have a soup for lunch - will whizz that the micro for a short while to bring it up to temperature

Here are my reasons for losing weight
I may add to this as I think of more things
I am going to read this every time I feel weak

Health reasons
  • I have had a knee replacement I want it to last as long as possible
  • I am having trouble with the opposite hip and knee - perhaps although I cant change the state of the joints less weight will mean I can put of replacements for as long as possible
  • Both parents had diabetes type two - I want to reduce the risk
  • I want to avoid non alcohol liver disease
  • I have high blood pressure - it would be good to not have to control this with meds
  • Reduce the risk of heart problems
  • Depression I have bipolar and may be able to not use the antidepressant but only the med that keeps me stable
  • To have more energy
  • To be a lot less sweaty in the summer
Aesthetic reasons
  • I would like to wear the clothes I have in the loft - firstly to fit into my size 18 clothes hiding in the back of the wardrobe rather than the tents I wear at present
  • I would like to not flinch when my husband touches me - he loves me I dont
  • to lose my double chin
  • to not have a muffin top
  • to wear sleeveless tops
  • to have a body my husband will want to touch
Emotional reasons
  • To love me
  • To have more confidence
  • To raise my self esteem - which is on the floor at present
  • To not use food as a reward
  • To banish comfort eating
  • to not feel ashamed of myself
  • to prove to ME I can do this
  • I would love to walk up sugarloaf again in Wales - its a mountain :)

The most important reason is I am doing this for ME

yes this is a very comprehensive list but I am not putting too much pressure on myself I just want to be honest

In order to stop using food as a reward I plan to reward myself for every half a stone I lose and for every week I can stay 100% on plan

rewards
  • flowers
  • new nail polish
  • manicure at the college
  • pedicure at the college
  • download for kindle
  • music download
  • half hour to clear out fat clothes

so help me out here please as you can see the rewards section is pretty sparse - I want to write them all on bits of paper and pull out one at a time so its a surprise as to what I will get and of course pop them back in :)

the big rewards wont be clothes as I have a loft full of those - but I might ask DH if we can get new rings - I cant wear my old ones as I developed an allergy to gold - so thinking titanium for something different - quite excited by that :):)

right please girls can you give me your lists I think it will inspire us all

how did that sad face get there and why cant I get rid of it - now I am sad

That's a brilliant list and I need to get working on mine. The reasons feel very different now than they did at my heaviest but I think it might be more important to come up with a list. Rewards are brilliant. I used to put money away every day that I was on plan based on the money I used to spend on takeaways and meals out and I had a nice chunk of money to spend. I also got an offer that gave me lots of trial sizes of posh beauty stuff and my colleague would give me something out of the box when I was having a tough day. It's good to link the rewards to time on plan as sometimes it takes too long on the scales and that's when we need a treat most. I liked the beauty stuff but scented candles were really nice too. Got me through some dark evenings in winter to sit under a blanket with a cup of tea and a lovely candle burning. I love the sorting out of clothes too. That is one of my favourite activities. I do it so often, I'm sure I turned it into a workout!!

Hope today is going well. I have to say my day 2 is going fine.

Hello found you and subscribed! Hope your day one is going better than mine I'm going to read and subscribe to a few more threads for motivation. Your list is fab and a great thing to look back on when your having a tough day x

Sent from my iPhone using MiniMins

Your list is great. And I love you idea of nice rewards for every week on plan. Excellent stuff to keep you motivated. I might have to copy that one, I could do with filling my kindle up a bit more :)

I've got a voucher for my local beauty place and have decided I am going to book myself in for a hot stone massage when I've lost another half stone. I love hot stone massages. For my first half stone I got myself some new shoes. I love shoes too

Thanks for the visits the support means so much

and who does not love shoes
When I was teaching at a primary school in a near by town (poor area) one of the children noticed I had not worn the same pair of shoes twice that term I said I dont need to as my feet no longer grow and I dont wear them out
so they wanted me to count them - shoes I had enough pairs to cover every week of the year without repeating I have 17 pairs of ankle boots 7 pairs of long boots then 5 pairs of trainers and some summer shoes

not that is an embarrasing number to admit to - I still have quite a few pairs but did take two bin bags to the charity shop as they no longer fitted when my feet got fat - I have kept the best ones :)

so here is day one

breakfast

strawberry shake that I knocked over and so added a little whey powder to to make up the difference - that was really nice

lunch

mushroom soup - now I have to say that was the most disgusting thing EVER I would rather have sprouts and celery - I tried some black pepper and some worstershire sauce but no I just could not it really did make me heave
so I tried a veggie one and it had the same effect - I honestly cant say how foul I think they are
so lunch was a coffee using half a vanilla shake

mid afternoon

I had another coffee using the other half a vanilla shake = now that was lovely (might do chocolate the same way for a mocha)

dinner
pork to same calories as chicken
broccoli cauli cabbage and swede to 200g

and I have to say that was lovely

I still have one to go and think I will have choc coconut bar about half 8

now this was easier than I thought it would be as I feel so full - I thought I would be starving
so role on tomorrow when I am going to try the spicy spaghetti for lunch - its go to be better than the soup - I will add 50g of mushrooms to it :)

so I hope you have all had a great day

I day gone - lots to go :)
H xx
