Protein Options

Feeling great in 2012!
For people on Slim and Save having 3 packs per day the advice is to have 100g of protein as well. At the moment the official advice is that this should be 100g grilled chicken or white fish but there are lots of threads asking for suitable alternatives so a list seems to be a good idea. Here are the ones that I think have been suggested so far. If you are going to add protein try to ensure that the calories are about the same as one of the packs and check the carbs if it's not pure protein:

100g grilled chicken
100g white fish
100g tuna in spring water
2 medium sized eggs
100g prawns
100g quorn (contains carbs but as there are not too many in 100g this should be ok)

Anymore suggestions?
 
Tofu? I've tried looking for sarb content but finding conflicting info. I love a bit of dry-fried tofu!
 
Carbs don't seem that bad according to this but the calories seem to vary a bit depending on what type you have:

Tofu > Firm

I'm not a tofu person so have no idea what all the different types are!
 
I asked s&s ans they said i could have tin tuna, tin salmon, tin sardines. Handy to keep in the house

Cottage cheese should be fine. Theres about 5g carbs in 100g, so I wouldnt O/D on the stuff, but tbh, 200g of cottage cheese would be about half a tub or more!

You guys weren't wrong about s&s and getting back promptly, great service:

"You could have 100g of Cottage Cheese along with the salad/veg from the list. It does contain approximately 4g of carbs per 100g so this combined with your salad/veg is not going to be a problem but be sure not to have more than this."

Just to clarify re eggs. I was talking to Rob and he said just make sure if you are having eggs to have a multi vitamin and mineral cos eggs only contain protein no other nutrients
 
Does the chicken have to be grilled??? or can i steam in in a bag with all my veg( thats what i have been doing anyway) just wanted to check, i have been putting my 100g chicken and veg allowance altogeather in a steam bag them microwaving it, i add a few herbs and pepper xxx
