Starting S&S - Looking for information on what to expect (Have done VLCD's before)

Hi! My names Xyls, I'm 21 (Almost 22 years old) and have just decided to start the S&S diet (Just ordered the taster pack to 100% make sure before commiting but i normally put up with it).

I have done 2 VCLD's before - One being Lighterlife that almost killed me (Literally) and the other which was Alizonne (Fantastic if you can afford it, Changed my life in many ways and am so greatful that I had the chance to be on it) but since finishing Alizonne I developed a hip problem which stopped me from being able to exercise as much as I liked to and I have the type of body that screams if you put something in your mouth and don't burn me off I will destroy your hips bum and face in one foul swoop.

At my heaviest I was 19stone 4, I lost down to 12 stone 9 last year but have crept back up to 15 stone because of the above reason - A friend recommended to me either Exante or S&S and after some searching around on this wonderful forum i decided to come to the S&S side as I love my veggies and like the option of having a 'normal' meal (I'm a veggie and i am so happy to see a meal replacement program be 100% veggie including the extra meals!). I hope to be around 12 stone 5 but am really looking at this diet to help me boost myself down to a level where i can swim a bit further every week - I currently do around 9/12KM a week (about 3 KM a day on the days I go).

As you might see, I have done the whole meal replacement diet before - What I really am looking for is some insight on the best packs to get/ways to make them and how you have found them in general. I understand that there is not always packs we like so any advice which ones to steer clear from would be much appreciated!

I hope everyone is well and loosing! and looking forward to your replies!

To be honest I wouldnt trust anyones opinion on what packs to have and what not to have. Theres not 2 of us on here with the same taste. Best thing to do is to buy the sample pack which pretty much lets you try them. Id also say when you start off just make the packs the way S&S to, dont start looking for tweaks, the packs are actually very tasty and you probably wont need any.

Hello :)

There is a thread here where people review the different slim & save products which should give you a general overview of the meals and what people think of them i.e their taste, texture and the different ways of making them ect.

Hope it helps!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I agree with Starlight everyones taste differs so much. I have to be honest i love everything lol. I have a sweet tooth and the shakes for me are just right. The soups are yum, all the meals are yum and the bars are yum. Can you tell i love s&s lol. Good luck on your journey and i look forward to reading your losses xxxx

Yep - theres a taster pack for about £25 which contaons 25 different packs so would give you a good idea which ones you like before doing a bigger order.

Totally agree with starlight , you need to try stuff as we are all so different . I loe all the meal packs except the tomoto chilli and find I just need to add a little more water and pop the pasta ones in the microwave for a little longer than they say , apart from that its amazing :D Good luck with trying everything x

Hello, I just want to double check before I start tomorrow -

I'm going to be doing 4 packs a day - So i can have 3 shakes, or 2 shakes and a bar + then a 'replacement meal' thingy? + my veg and milk (yuck)?

Also - are we allowed bars in the first week? When i did lighterlife they were off limits untill week 2 and on alizonne they were off limits untill stage 3.

You either have 4 packs a day, or 3 packs and a protein meal. You must take a multi vit if you are only having 3 packs tho. You can only have one bar a day, and whichever option you chose you can have you veg and milk allowance-altho thy are optional.
All this should have come with your packs. There is a fantastic sticky thread which tells you all about it anyway :) good luck x Jo x

You can have as many of the 'meals' as you like. So ou could have four cottage pies if you wanted to.

Ah okay! I read the sticky earlier but just wanted to clarify! Am so excited to start, signed back up to the gym todAy an am ready. Would love this to be my last vlcd!

Good luck - and enjoy!

Woop! Started today, Had strawberry shake for breakfast which looked quite nice, tasted fine but had a bit of a after taste - the lemon and chocolate bar for lunch. wasn't bad just abit sickly after awhile and now i am eating the spagetti (silver packed) with some mushrooms mixed in and its REALLY good! :O extremely suprised by the taste, lighterlifes packs were pretty bad (did it in 2007 though) and alizonnes were too thick/overpowering! happy dieter here!
