is there anyone out there who has a lot of weight to lose? and is on a VLCD

Hi, I was just wondering if there were any other people out there doing S&S or another VLCD who have a lot of weight to lose, I'm only asking as well at my top weight I was 22 st 5 lbs and I am now 20 stone so I am feeling better in myself already but I still have so far to go in fact I ideally need to lose another 8 1/2 stone to reach my goal weight. I know there is a wemitts section on minimins for those who have a large amount of weight to lose but I was just wondering if there were any other people on here who also have a lot to lose but are doing it using a VLCD like S&S, I'm ideally looking to talk with those in a similar boat so they themselves have quite a lot of weight to lose so will be doing this plan for a fair while like me so we could hopefully support each other. Em x

My start weight on this was 18st, current goal is 10st but ultimate goal is 8st 7lb. So I have anywhere between 8st and 9.5st to lose. At the moment looking at doing this for the initial 12 weeks and will then re-evaluate as I'm doing a half marathon in October and although the next 12 weeks would only take me till the end of August I may have to do more training than a VLCD will allow. But don't worry, you're not the only larger S&S member on here :)
 
I was 19 stone 4 lbs when I started on LL (and later SnS). I lost 9 stone to get to 10 stone in weight, which I reached last June. I decided that I was a bit too skinny and also I added a lot of muscle when I started working out after reaching goal. My current ideal weight is 11 stone and I've been maintaining at 12 stone for many months now. Am thinking about losing a bit but will probably do that through calorie restriction rather than going back on SnS again.

You are not on your own and it can be done. Good luck!
 
I'm not on s&s, I'm on exante but I always read the other vlcd boards :)

I have 13stone to lose :(
It's a huge amount but I know I'll lose it eventually!

I do feel bad sometimes when I read the boards and cant see anyone with as much to lose as me, makes me feel like the odd one out!!
 
Hi Bluebutterfly, I know what you mean as I was 22 stone 5 lbs at my top weight and I am still 20 stone now and I have a long way to go to reach my goal weight and I have been feeling a bit like the odd one out as I have so much to lose and so I would love it if you fancy being a buddy on here, afterall it doesn't matter that you are doing Exante and me S&S as a VLCD is a VLCD. I have been on the wemitts section for those who need to lose alot of weight but most are doing ww, slimming world or calorie counting types of diets and as I'm doing a VLCD I wanted to ideally talk with others who were having to face the same daily struggles re lack of normal food! Have you just started Exante? how is it going? I calorie counted previously and lost some weight that way and have now been doing S&S for a week and am hoping to lose the rest of my weight this way. I will readily admit to being impatient and as I have so much to lose I feel I need to see quicker results. Em x

WOW Weasey thats amazing, oh that really inspires me to know you have gone from 19 stone 4 lbs to the weight you are now, it just shows if you put the effort in you can get the results, well done you, that really is fantastic, I just hope I can do as well in time.

Oh thanks Cherryblossom, what a fab aim as well to be doing a half marathon in Oct, you are brave! I think its so good to have goals like that. I have loads of energetic sports type activities I have always wanted to try but sadly have always been too heavy for them so one of my aims is when I get down in weight to try all the sports things I have been dying to do for years. My cousin gets married in mid Sept and so one of my goals is to be nearer my target weight by then, obviously I doubt I'll be at my goal weight by then of course but I could be a hell of a lot nearer and it would be wonderful to not be the fat one in the pics!Em

oh thanks Dee, you have done so well, there seem to be a number of people on here who have gone down from a fairly heavy weight to a lot lower weight using this type of diet plan so its keeping me going knowing that others have managed it and that I just need to stick with it and carry on putting the effort in. Em x

This is day 6 for me on exante.
I have done it before in the past so this is another re-start.
Really determined this time as I am hoping to try for a baby this year and I will be bridesmaid at my brothers wedding next june and don't want to be the fat bridesmaid!

How long have you been on s&s?
 
Also consider that there are a lot of people too embarrassed to go public with current weight or start weight, I for one admire the honesty of everyone posting on this thread in particular. I'm still not ready to put it out there! I think if you're browsing around and see signatures with tickers on them showing around 100lb to lose in total, you can be comforted by the knowledge there are many more like you, but not quite yet as brave as you, out there seeking similar losses.

You're definitely not on your own, and I would lay a bet you're not in a minority either :)
 
My top weight before I started Exante was 24 stone... I got down to 212lbs before I got sick and had to have an operation... I ended up putting on lots of weight again and here I am, I'm doing Slim and Save and I've been doing Slim and Save for 4 weeks and lost 2 stone already.

The last time I very much focused on having "lots to lose" but the weight loss is just so fast on this, you will be a completely different size very soon. The last time I done this using Exante I started in February and it was July time I think that I got down to my lowest weight in years.

This time, I've got the luxery of knowing how fast the weight will come off. One thing that I would really recommend you doing is cutting your weight loss into little chunks. The sense of achievement that you will get when you reach one of your targets is immense and it means that you have something else to focus on too... You will do this, its all habit forming.

This will definitely, and I mean this, be my last time doing a VLCD though lol

My single most important piece of advice would judt be.... dont give up!!! No matter how many times you have a bad day/week/month and no matter how many times you fall off the wagon.... Remember why you're doing this.... For a healthier and longer future!!!

No matter how many mistakes and how many times you fall off track..... dust yourself off and get back at it!!! Even if you try something new for a while!! Just keep fighting and you will eventually get there!!!

Blue Butterfly, how is day 6 going on the Exante diet at the moment? I'm just into my second week but for some reason I am struggling more today whereas the last number of days have been much easier, think I just hit a bit of a low today emotionally and that has kind of made me feel a bit wobbly today, I'm determined to stay on track though just need to get through this difficult day, some days seem to be alot harder than others. Em

Yes that is so true noodles1609, I think it was just that I seemed to be coming across so many people on here who seemed to have a much smaller amount of weight to lose and I will admit I started to feel a bit low as I thought god some of these people are starting at a weight I would be happy to get to so I'm glad I started this thread so I could see just how many others who have either been my size or are my size are trying to fight the flab with this diet and winning the battle. Its been really inspiring seeing how far some of the minimins members have come, losing so much weight.

Wow Jen Jen what a fab weight loss in only 4 weeks that must be keeping you going, I'm def going to set myself smaller goals like you said rather than looking at the whole amount of weight I need to lose as that makes the goals feel more possible to achieve.

Thanks Dee, your last post was just what I needed to hear today, I've been having a bit of a wobbly moment today, yesterday I was so positive but for some reason today I have felt a little low and more negative about my chances on this diet and whilst I'm still determined to stick with it, I really think I needed to read your reply just to bring home to me why I'm doing this and why I need to keep going.

These diets make big losses possible... you'll soon be looking forward to weigh day!!

Write yourself a list of all the reasons you're doing this and keep it handy for when you want to quit!!! A quick read usually gets me back on track!!!

I usually get a little 'down' in the second week.
I think (for me anyway) it's because the excitement of the first week has worn off, the big first week loss is out of the way and in the second week you start to realise you're gonna be doing this for a long time before you get to where you want to be.

I hope you're doing ok Em, stick with it :)

so true blue butterfly, I think thats what happened yesterday, I had a wobbly day and was feeling pretty low but luckily managed to stay on track and today is day 10 and I have woken up feeling like a different person, much more positive again and so glad I didn't self sabotage yesterday which I have often done in the past! I am so determined to stick with it as I just don't want to be so big anymore, its taking its toll on me and that in itself is making me want to keep fighting on.

I hope you are doing well and that this week is going ok, its not an easy diet but the results will make it so worth it, Em x
