Hi all,
On medical advice I started Slimfast on Friday, I had to give up a lot of my life loves on Friday. Diet coke was another that had to go. :(
I have started to drink water, LOTS of water. At the moment I have seen no change on the scale, I know its only been 3 days but I feel that any weight I may have lost is been offset by the amount of water in my system - I genuinely heard it SLOSH earlier :p.

Anyway, I'm no expert with SlimFast; but I am looking at 12 months on the plan so I hope to gain some knowledge on best practise and hopefully be of help to new starters as the months go on.

At the moment I am going HARDCORE, shake for brekkie (and a banana treat (doc says I need the potassium), a shake for dinner and a slimming world evening meal.

I'm very hungry but my willpower is holding strong, THE HOUSE IS FULL OF CRISPS AND CHOCCIES.

Good luck with it......the hunger pangs will subside pretty quickly once you get used to it and you will notice the weight coming off pretty quick. Don't worry about the water, your body will soon get used to that too and it's important to drink loads to help with the hunger pangs ......plus you get exercise running to the loo every 10 minutes lol.

I have lost 2 stone on the plan since July.....so it works and pretty quickly if you not cheat. Slowly up your exercise levels and you'll be amazed.

Good luck

Thanks Anniek, I don't know if you would call today a success or not, I had a shake for breakfast at 07:00. Planned to have another shake at dinner but ended up getting enthralled in work; by time I realised I had missed dinner it was pushing 5pm so just decided to wait until tea. Which was a slimming world recipe chilli con carni, one popadom a banana and a low fat yogurt. All in it was about 650 calories I believe.

welcome to slim fast :)

Chilli con carne sounds good - my only concern on your day would be you are not eating enough! You haven't had any lunch or snacks.... don't starve yourself otherwise the diet won't work (you will be desperate to get off the diet!!)

Good luck with the diet and keep us updated :)

Hi kflower and thanks for the reply, I am certainly at a stage where I don't want to be on any kind of diet, but that is because I love the taste of food to much. I am currently sitting at the 1 and a half week mark. I haven't cheated as of yet and I have been sticking to what the tin tells me to do. I am unsure as to if I am losing what I should be losing to be honest, I started at 20 stone/127KG and am currently down to 19Stone 8lbs/124.7Kg. so that's just a 2.3KG in over 1 and a half week. I don't know if that is good or if I am doing something wrong and should be losing more, given my start weight. If its about right for then I will stick at what I am doing.

6lbs is not a bad start is it :) I know it's tempting to eat as little as possible but I think if you have the 3 snacks a day it might help with your weight loss. I have 2 cereal bars through the day (I have to keep them at work to do myself eating all of them at once) I don't always have my 3rd snack of the day if I am not hungry after my tea... it I sometimes use the 100 calories as part of my tea.

That's a great start - well done!!

Don't forget, eat your snacks as the diet is worked out on having all of the calories from everything - eat too little and your body will enter starvation mode - which slows down or stops weight loss!!

Also if you have them all, when weight loss slows down you can always decrease the calorie totals of the snacks :)

Good luck and keep us updated x

Hi all, i am still not sold on the idea of these snacks - In any diet I have tried before in which your allowed "treats" I really cant control myself and 1 is never enough, I have never made it past week 2 before within faltering once!!I currently weight 122,2KG. So very happy with my progress, I don't know if the hunger has disappeared or I am simply not noticing it as much but the days are getting easier.

Hi Rob, in my experience you get used to the hunger. Sometimes I actually quiet like it because it reminds me that I am sticking to the diet! I have got plenty of weight to lose all its not like I am going to faint from being hungry for a few hours is it? (Maybe that's just me lol) if you are having bananas then maybe have them between the shakes through the day? I couldn't tell you then number of full boxes of cereal bars I have eaten in one evening since I started slim fast this time - but even 600 calories of weetos bars is far better than what I was scoffing on before!

Hi vicky, thank you for the reply and sorry I didn't check in soon. I have been jumping into the weight loss diary every night but not so much into this room. Oh and may I say I hate bananas; not the taste you understand. It's the calories they hold and the fact they are so moreish.. End up eating a chippies calories worth of bananas. Anyway I'm still doing ok with the diet, it's slowly becoming the norm, I'm now down to 120.8kg and the only thing not feeling normal is the bad mood that I develop 20 -30 minutes before I'm due another shake or meal.. I don't do hunger :)
