Hi Guys!

I just wanted to say hi and inroduce myself! I had my 3rd child 11 weeks ago and I know weigh the heaviest I have ever been in my life! Im determined to lose the weight before I return to work in october and am giving slimfast a go. Im initially doing in for 1 month only as a sort of kick start but will see how I go and may stay longer if the rwsults are good and im not struggling too much.

Im under no illusion that its going to be difficult - i have a food addiction and its not going to dissapear overnight but I really want to do this so any support would ne welcomingly received ☺

Thanks guys! First day is monday as we have one final family get together tomorrow and Im keeping this journey private apart from my amazing, supportive husband x x

Hi April girl.

good luck with your journey. I've found slim fast a great way to lose weight, the fixed portions help as I am a greedy bear!!

I use use hairy dieter re Ives for the evening meals - highly recommend and my lovely boyfriend thinks they taste great too, so we can eat the same thing in the evening which is really important to me.

otherwise, I've found the ready made shakes and the meal bars all great. Sometimes I substitue meals with belvita biscuits. Snacks I sometimes swap with whitworths dried fruit shots, or skinny Topcorn (popcorn) snacks, or an apple.
youll find what works best for you.

good luck!!

Hi April,

I'm also new to Slimfast and to this forum. I am also at the heaviest i've ever been however, i didnt just recently have a child!
I see myself becoming more unhealthy and feeling less confident about the things i wear and i want to feel good again.

i decided to go with slim fast because of the quick initial weight loss that occurs and I'm hoping this change in myself will help motivate me to keep up my new lifestyle.

I also start tomorrow (monday) and i plan to be on slimfast with a few healthy snacks/meals inbetween. The goal is to lose at least 50lbs and I'm hoping with slim fast i can lose half of that.

agree with you about the food addiction.. and any support this way would be great too! keep me posted about your intake for the day and any struggles or encouragement you can give.

good luck!!!

Hi April :)

I hear you re the food addiction. It is something I really struggle with myself. :(

I spent most of last year calorie counting but things were starting to slide a bit so I started the Tesco version of Slimfast to try to get things back on track. It has certainly done that and I've been surprised that, Christmas aside, I haven't found it too hard to stick to.

Good luck! :)

Thank you all for the comments and ideas regarding snacks! As long as I have a bit of variety with the snacks then I will be okay - its when groundhog day sets in I will struggle!

So, day 1 today and I stepped on the scales and saw a number i NEVER want to see again - I was mortified! But onwards and downwards as they say and Im really hoping I can do this and succeed. I will be on here daily so any support/chat/idea sharing woukd be great, lets see if we can wake this board up a little! ☺

Does anyone use an app at all to keep track of their calories with evening meal and snacks or do you just guestimate and log in your head?

What do you all do for hot drinks? I like coffee with milk - do I use the milk as snacks? Im going to cut down to 2 cups a day - 1 on a morning and 1 on an evening.

Thanks guys! Xx

I use my fitness pal to track everything, it's great.

i have skimmed milk usually in drinks, to be honest Im not too bothered about counting the miLk in the snack allowance, I just enjoy my couple of coffees a day :)

I would usually write my cals down but with this plan I tend to just do it in my head as it only comes down to playing with my snack allowance rather than a whole days worth of food.

If you are a grazer like me ten sugar free Werthers Original are 100 cals and can be spread nicely throughout the day. Just watch out for the potential side effects. ;)

I don't drink tea or coffee but I've found the low calorie hot chocolate drinks lovely to both warm me up when it is cold and also give me a bit of a chocolate hit.

Thanks guys! Ive had a really good first day i think! Ive signed up to my fitness pal just so I keep track for a few weeks as im totally new to the calorie counting thing and want to make sure Im on track.

Will definatly get some werthers and some hot chocolate for that sweet hit!

Can anyone recomened any nice SF shakes/smoothies to try? Ive literally bought a tin each of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate but am willing to try others if any are particulary tasty? I dont like bananas so thats the only thing I cant do haha x

I drink the ready made shakes - I keep them in the fridge as they taste nice cold.
just stick to chocolate, strawberry and mocha, but keep me going!!

think the ready made shakes are a bit thicker than when you make it from powder (plus Im just lazy and couldn't be arsed yo make mine every day!!)

find no whatever works for you x

I'm not a banana fan either.

In the Tesco range there are some you make up with fruit juice instead of milk. I'm not a fruit juice fan and bought some mango ones without realising but they are actually quite nice and make a change from something milk based.

Will have a look at the fruit juices thank you! Day 2 today and Im feeling good!

Just had a strawberry shake and an apple so 1 shake, 1 snack down. Ive got 1/2 tin of heinz tomato soup for lunch (119 cals) then a shake mid afternoon and another small snack somewhere.

Ive got a beef brisket joint in the slow cooker with onion, carrot and beef stock and will have this with a small portion of mash potato and cabbage for sinner tonight.

Does this seem ok?

I also suffer from chronic eczema so taking my vitamins everyday as well - hoping this will help my eczema too as im upping the water to 8 glasses a day xx

I think we'll all be round to yours for dinner tonight April. :D

As long as you stick within the allowed calories you'll be absolutely fine. :)

That reminds me - I forgot to take my vitamins last night. Oops!

I'm really lucky that I only have to think about myself when it comes to food (my kids are adults and my husband is self employed so works all kinds of odd hours and mostly sorts his own food out). If I had to be thinking about feeding the family while I was trying to diet I haven't a clue how I'd do it. Hats off to you April. :)

As long as im organised then im okay and my slow cooker is a life saver as the children eat when they come in from school and then me and hubbie usually eat around 730pm once he is in from work and baby is settled so its all in one pot and no cooking twice or using hundereds of pans! X

Today has been hardish. I havent been really hungry but wanting to snack more? Hoping its just my body adjusting a little. So today ive had my 2 shakes, 2 hard boiled eggs, 1 slice of a go ahead bar and im so proud of myself for dinner as hubby fancied fish and chips so ordered a portion and im having soup and a roll. Well within my calories although not quite the 2 3-2-1 plan.

Really proud for not caving to the fish and chips though! X

Well done hun that's great that you kept strong, I Defo use my 100 cals snack allowance on quantity not quality lol and sometime put them together to have something quite yum lol keep up the good work x
