Wagamama!

Man I love all their food :)

I've seen loads of posts asking and guessing about their syn values but nothing very solid. As I work there and we have an awesome kitchen team who know enough about nutrition to help me out, I'm gonna share what I can with anybody interested :D

Let me start with this though. NO DISH is syn free. not as standard. They will probably accommodate pretty well if they're not too busy. I personally often have (I say often, three days in a row since I started this diet on thursday :p ) number 70, the Chicken Teriyake Dumburi. I ask for the chicken steamed rather than cooked on the tepan (where they use around 5-15 ml of vegetable oil!) and no sauce. I get extra veggies chucked in too if there's someone nice on :D then i add the green topped low sodium soy sauce on the tables. If you like it spicy there's also the schishimi in the brown pots on tables which is also free. And a side of edamame.
This is a gorgeous meal and is totally syn free
if you fancy, number 100 the chicken gyoza is only 2 sins a pop and they're gorgeous.

If anyone wants me to try find out anything else let me know =)

Amazing! Thanks for checking in, I LOVE a bit of Wagamama... can you fill me in on some of the veggie dishes please? I'm on green only...

My favourites are yasai cha han and yasai yaki soba. I also love the yasai gyoza and the edamame beans. Any ideas?

Thanks again, really appreciate it!

I love Wagamama too so any info is really helpful

Thanks for doing this x

Thanks so much for this!! Can you shed some light on chicken cha han for me? It's my absolute favourite! x

Grr I'm so mad >.< I just spent ages typing loads and my cat jumped on the laptop and refreshed it!
so here's a less detailed version.

I'd say the veggie gyozas are about the same, 2 syns. Bearing in mind I'm talking about no sauce. I've home made that stuff before, it's made with loads of oil and sugar. Switch to soy sauce, it's still really nice. Make sure you specifically ask for them grilled though as they now come deep fried as standard :)

The Yasai Yaki Soba is made entirely of free and super free foods. The only thing is it's cooked in 15ml of vegetable oil so that puts it up to 6 syns. The wagamama sauce it's cooked in.. I can't find much about what's in it. I was told by a chef though that it's pretty high in calories. He said that by switching from that to the low sodium soy sauce you're saving around 100 calories! so until i can find out more I'd deffo make the switch.

The Yasai Cha Han is pretty much the same, free apart from the oil it's cooked in. That has no sauce so it is just the 6 syns.

The chicken and prawn I need to find more details about. I think the chicken is processed so I'm not sure how to syn that up. I also need to find out more about the prawns, whether they're cooked before they go in and how.. there isn't massive amounts of either so I can't see there being a giant difference in syns.

Oh my, I am so happy to read all this...

I absolutely love wagamama's and have only been once since starting SW last August. This makes me very happy indeed!!!
:D

The noodles are fresh! I'm not sure what this means to syns as I've heard fresh ones are synd? But they also have added oil I've just found out, they're coated in it to keep it from sticking.. Slightly under 10 ml a portion so another 4syns. Still not too bad for eating out I don't think specially when it's amazing food!

Oh and I looked into the ramens. The stock is completely fine and the noodles in them aren't coated in oil either. The only thing is the meat/ fish/ tofu is cooked on the tepan. Again it's not much oil, I'd say 6 syns tops but that's quite a high estimate I reckon.

It would also be really useful to know the top 5 lowest syn values on the menu! So that when you go there, you know which are the best choices to make! I love their food!

Thank you for the tips on the Chicken Teriyake Dumburi :)

You know what, they put the same sauce in the cha han as the yaki soba.. I need to find out more about it!

The chilli men's not too bad, the ingredients are free but you've got the oil the noodles are coated in and that it's cooked in which can be up to ten syns. You could try asking for less oil but they do tend to be as sparing as possible anyways. The sauce only has like 110 calories in it so that'd add around 5.5 syns. So it's probs your syns for the day but not so bad you have to save up for it

Thank you so much for this info I LOVE wagas we always go! I usually have the ginger chicken udon and ask for it to be cooked with no oil, now I know the noodles are around 4 syns that's really helpful! Keep the info coming - your a star ?

i live in germany and am going to london at the end of april and yes you guessed it i am going to wagamama's.

i usually order the katsu curry but am willing to change my mind to the dumburi as suggested in the first post

thanks

I'm going to wagamama this weekend :)

Do you think if I chose the Yasai Chilli Men they would substitute the noodles for rice and ask them not to add oil?

How many syns would the sauce and tofu come to?

I have a tip for anyone who like me is addicted to the chicken katsu curry.. When you just have to have one and can't not. Get one to take away. Wait til it's tepid then eat it. It's gross enough to put you right off for a good few weeks!
Even better, get the kids one so its only four quid and have other food easily available. Try not to be starving either cos it'll still taste too good and you may be tempted to eat it all :D

I've been off for a couple of weeks that's why I've not posted anything too helpful for a bit but I'd say that's a pretty helpful/ gross tip ^.^

I'd say, at the absolute highest, the sauce is still like 6 and they could maybe pull off using only 2 to 4 syns with the oil. They literally cant do it without cos it'd all stick to the teppan but they'll give it a good go with as little as possible. And yeah you can swap for rice :)

Thanks! What about tofu? It's fried! I could swap for chicken or prawns but the tofu is half the reason why it's my FAVE dish
