Hi there,

I've signed up to SW online a couple of months ago but seem to have trouble sticking to it. I commute to work (5 hours each day) so it's very difficult for me to make a meeting. Problem is I think I'm failing as I don't really have the support.

I'm trying to be really good but my lunches are so so. What are easy things that I can buy that are syn free? I hope someone can help and give me some tips. I want to lose 2 stone overall and would love love love to achieve that.

Thanks,
Antonia

Could you do:-

Soup in a thermos flask if you don't have a microwave

Pasta with tsp pesto (synned) with veg, I do with sweet corn and peppers and peas - cold or heated up

Ww petit pain or wholemeal bread sandwich with free filling and velvet crunch crisps (synned)

Cous cous salad with veggie sausages

If you have a micro you could take left overs from dinner such as casserole/stew etc?

Hope this helps. Lunch is my weakest meal.

I'll have to dig out a list I made of lunches from supermarkets, when I do, I will send it you but in summary:

Sainsburys do a sweet chilli sweet noodle salad with a lime and chilli sauce which is 5.5syns and most of the sushi packs (veg, duck, chicken and fish) are 1-2 syns a pack

most cooked chicken packs like bbq, sweet chilli, tikka etc. are either free or 1 syn a pack - you get eat a pack with a mug shot - flavours vary from free-2 syns

if you have a microwave then the batchelors packets of pasta and sauce are free-1.5 syns depending on the flavour

if you can grab a plain jacket potato you could put a tub of low fat cottage cheese on it (free)

sometimes I will make a 'slimming world quiche' on a Sunday which I can leave in a fridge in little squares at work for around 3 days:

cook a packet of pasta n sauce i.e. batchelors macaroni & cheese (1.5 syns) and fry some veg in frylight (mushrooms and onions (maybe even bacon)) and mix into the pasta

whisk around 4 eggs with a tub of low fat cottage cheese and pour the pasta and mixture into an oven proof dish and pop it in the oven for around 25 mins.

once cooked and cooled, cut it into pieces and leave it at work for a snack, or eat it with beans for breakfast or lunch.

These ideas sound great, I'm always looking for different lunch ideas too, so this is a very helpful post :) thanks

I am often out on the road at lunchtime and end up having to buy lunch from a services (chanting 'do not go to Burger King, do not go to Burger King') and I often pick up the plain salad bowls and either a packet of ham or prawns or crab sticks then make the salad up in the car. If you keep some sachets of mustard or mayo in the car then this can perk up the salad a bit more. I keep a clean knife and fork and tissues in the car too (or my handbag if I'm on the train). I sometimes pick up carrot sticks and low fat humous, prepared fruit too and as a result an in-promptu lunch from the services doesn't blow the syns budget!

Hope this helps xx

I love syn free pakoras. If you google slimming world recipes, pakoras, the recipe is there. Very simple and superb hot or cold.
