Eating out guide

There are some common options in the back of the handbook. To my knowledge there isn't an eating out guide, not like the kind weight watchers produce anyway. You just need to use the 20:1 rule or look at menus in advance and make sensible choices.

For foods that don't have any free food value - a twix bar for example - you use the formula of 20 calories = 1 syn - so if a twix is 200 cals (I have no idea how much a twix is - they are the worst of all chocolate bars as far as I'm concerned) the syn value would be 10 syns.

Eating out can be a bit tricky when following SW but the best things to look out for on menus are grilled meats, Fish dishes, pasta or risottos as long as they have veggies or fish as their base (I usually take a B choice of oil if I choose a tomato pasta to compensate for the oil used). Avoid anything with cream sauces, breaded, battered, deep fried, etc. Choose a side of vegetable, watch out for mashed potato as it's probably lifting with butter and cream :)drool:), or a side salad.

Use the forum to help you plan a meal out before you go and try to keep your syns low for the day you go.
