Hello, Welcome To My New Diary for 2013....

The tail end of 2012 hasn't gone to well for my weight loss, so I have drawn a line under it and started afresh with new books from group & a new Food Diary Page.

I shall be posting my workouts, recipes of meals I regularly make, pictures of meals & anything else requested by the people who read this.

*MY STORY SO FAR....*

I am a Man from Portsmouth who is on a weight loss and fitness journey. My Target is to get to 16st and be fit enough to run the Great South Run (10 miles) on 26th October 2013.
I started my Journey early March 2012 when I weighed in at 26st 12lb. I lost weight quite easily by following the Slimming World plan and attending the Gym regularly. By October I had lost 6st 3lb but that's when I lost my way a bit and I've since put 2st back on.
I weighed in on Sunday 30th December at 22st 9lb (-59lb or 4st 3lb) I have spent a few days clearing out all the foods that are off plan ready to start on the 2nd of January 2013.

Up at 0500 as one of my daughters is awake early....
Long day ahead....

0600 Feeling really hungry....
Snack Time....
Apple, Banana & Yoghurt devoured, feel a little better....

0845 Managed to last till Breakfast (1st day back on plan is the hardest)....
Branflakes (HE B) & Skimmed Milk (HE A)....

1230 Lunch Time, hunger under control!!!!
Jacket Pot, Bolognese Sauce (2 Syn's), Salad with Salad Cream (2 Syn's)....
Syn Free yoghurt....

1700 Dinner Time, still under control....
Steak, SW Chips, Mixed Veg, Mushrooms & 2 Eggs....

2230 Snack at home, got out of pub before pool snacks came out....Phew!!

0815 Breakfast Time & A nice lay in....
Branflakes (HE B) & Milk (HE A), Apple, Banana & Syn Free Yoghurt....

1300 Lunch Time, Kids eating McDonalds, Me....
Jacket Potatoes, Tuna/Sweetcorn Mayo (2 Syn's), Salad & Salad Cream (2 Syn's).

1730 Dinner Time, looking forward to this....
Chilli Con Carne (1 Syn) & Brown Rice....
Rocket Ice Lolly (2 Syn's)....

Chilli Recipe for 2 large helpings....

250g Extra Lean Beef Mince
1 Large Onion Fine Diced
100g Mushrooms Diced
1 Pepper Diced
2 Tsp Dried Basil
2 Tsp Crushed Garlic/Garlic Purée (1 Syn per Tsp)
100g Tomato Purée
(Spices to taste....for me....)
4 Tsp Hot Chilli Powder
2 Tsp Paprika
2 Tsp Cayenne Pepper
Tin of Baked Beans
Tin of Chopped Tomatoes

1, Put Mince, Onions, Garlic, Basil, Peppers & Mushrooms in a large Sauce Pan with some Fry Light Spray & cook until mince is nearly cooked.
2, Add all spices and continue cooking until mince is fully cooked.
3, Add Tomato Purée, Baked Beans & Chopped Tomatoes and cook out for 15 mins stirring regularly.

Cook Rice per instructions and serve with Chilli.
I used 125g uncooked per portion.

I did the great north run in 2012- the feeling you get when you cross the finish line is amazing. Ill be willing you all the way :)

I think I am going to be very emotional on the day coz I have a strong reason for running, just hope I get around....

I did look at the great north but a bit close together....

Do you have to enter a ballot for the great north?

Maybe 2014....

I got blisters at 8 miles & I practically crawled the last mile but when I saw the last half a mile marker I just ran- I don't know where it came from but it worked wonders & I couldn't feel the pain anymore until I passed the finish line :) and the two days of afterburn was a bonus!!
Great North Run is a ballot. I'm just going to do local runs this year.

Had my first class today so busy planning meals

I have just been out and spent £100 on a pair of running trainers specifically for my action which should prevent blisters, so I am told....

I am starting my running specific training in April, until then it's Slimming World & Gym Workouts to lose as much weight has possible....

Planning is the main ingredient to success with SW. That's why I went off track, I stopped planning!!

Hi Charley,

I have an old diary on here called "big g to little g" without the year which I started in July 2012.

The time between July and September will give you a good idea of what he would be able to eat & the losses I had over that period.

Please keep tracking this one as well & if you have any questions please ask.

My trainers are the most expensive pair of shoes I own!!! They never let me down, I blame my blisters on the weather as it was raining & I had been lucky with my training as it never rained once, so if you get the chance to train in the rain, go for it. Good luck with the gym, you will notice a difference when you then train on the roads.

1 hr weight based workout & 20 min on treadmill (Run/walk)....

Starter, lots of Syn free salad/rice salad with light French dressing....
Main, Lean Beef & Turkey, Boiled Potatoes, Lots of Veg (Carrots, Peas, Cabbage & Sprouts), Stuffing (3 Syn's), Yorkie (3.5 Syn's) & drizzle of gravy (1 Syn)....
Dessert, Melon Chunks, lots of....

1700 Dinner Time (always hungry after a roast, why? I'm not sure...)....

7 lb off, Happy, V Happy....
Total loss: 66 lb or 4st 10lb....

Syn free yoghurt....

Week One of 2013 done and 7lb down for a total loss of 66lb (4st 10lb), 86lb (6st 2lb) to go till target!! ;-)....
