Slinkymelinkys weight loss diary

Hello everyone :)

After years of playing at dieting, my lovely other half and I joined slimming world together on Monday. Since meeting 4 years ago, we have both put on around about 4 stone each which is mostly due to our love of good food and wine. On a recent holiday, we made a pact to lose weight together. We are approaching the time on our relationship where we might be considering marriage and babies, but both of us feel as though we can't really move forward until we are healthier; a huge motivation!

I have done slimming world many times in the past. So am familiar with the plan, however I have always fallen off the wagon after a few months, so my losses have been insignificant. Something feels different this time though. With the support (and competition) of my OH, I really feel as though now is the time!

Iv been a reader of Minis for years and have always found the food diaries so inspirational and have loved following the relationships which develop between the members, so I am going to try (my very very best) to write in is diary every day.

I'd really appreciate any comments.

Slinky :)

I'm a little concerned that my syns keep running quote high, but I guess il have to wait and see what the scales say on Monday.

OH is still doing well, he prefers to use less syns, and unlike me, he hates it when syns/healthy extras are included in meals.

The competition is well and truly on now :)

Well I had my first weigh in last night, and lost 1.5lbs. I'm pretty disappointed with that to be honest, especially as my OH lost 9lbs (and I have been in charge of every meal....even sending him off to work with a packed lunch!). I do feel as though iv lost more than that, and there are a few things which I think may have effected weigh in weight. Firstly, I definitely need to get more fibre into my diet as I am feeling very bloated and congested....definitely something to add in this week. I've heard good things about slimmatea helping in that area, so may give that a whirl! Secondly, I worked from home yesterday and ate far more (healthy choices of course) throughout the day than I normally would on weigh day. Including a huge bowl of super free soup, a massive baked potato with left over spag Bol and cheese and salad and a punned of grapes! Sounds glutinous, but I was studying for a professional exam, and the food helped break things up a little bit!

Anyway.....with all of that in mind, I'm confident that it will be a good week, and I am absolutely delighted for my OH, excellent loss and just what he needs to kick start his eating plan!

So as yesterday was w/I we did have a takeaway for dinner, but still managed to stay within syns.

Today; extra easy

Breakfast; lemon and ginger tea (lemon, ginger, water), half a grapefruit, activia 0%

Lunch; eating out, will try to order salad or another food optimising choice.

Snack; hifi, lots of fruit

Dinner; either homemade fish cakes or chilli con carne....will see how late I get home!

Determined to have a good week. Would love a -4 to make up for this week!

I ordered the biggest loser game from amazon for my kinect, so I shall be playing that 5 times a week (fingers crossed).

It seems pretty good so far, it has a body analyser feature which scans your body and estimates your weight and then works out a fitness regime based on the areas of your body it identifies as needing work. It's quite shocking seeing the scanned image of your body as it really does show every lump and bump.....but may be exactly the reality check needed to bump start fitness.

In terms of the fitness routine, you have an initial fitness test where the programme identity your fitness level and then all workouts from then in will be to your fitness level. You can also chose how long you want to work out for. The exercises are pretty basic, but I still managed t work up a sweat!

It's been a very busy day today iv been on the road a lot, and we haven't been food shopping for a while, so been scraping the barrel a little.

Today we are off to Cornwall to visit family, so it is going to be quite tricky to food optimise.

The plan is to have a big breakfast of steak and eggs, take lots of super free fruit and snacks for the journey, and if we have to eat out, make a sensible choice like baked potato with beans etc.

Hello :)
I think you're doing fab and i like your food diary it's helping me spice up mine a bit. If you're wanting to reduce syns a little why not try using hifi light rocky road bars as you 2 hexb's? when i use them i have one with yogurt and fruit for breakfast and then i still have one for a sweet evening treat with hot choc.

Or if you can do without meat why not have a few green days. They allow for double HEX's

Have a lovely trip to cornwall.
xx

Hi Hanngun...yey someone is reading my diary :)

I do buy hifi bars, usually the choc orange/mint ones, are the rocky road ones nice? Can you have 2 for a hexb? You're right, though it would be a great way to cut down on syns as I'd be able to save one for my evening hot choc treat :)

We wanted to do red days as I know that I generally lose more when I cut out carbs, but our C advised trying ee for the first few weeks. We may try a few days next week to mix it up abit. The thing that concerns we with red days is how much they cost. My oh is a 6"4 rugby player....so he constantly eats!

Yesterday's food was within syns, but still bordering on naughty! Started off fantastically well and made healthy choices all day, but we got home at about 930 and were famished so had a Chinese takeaway....eeekkk

Breakfast; steak, eggs, mushroom and onions (felt incredibly lavish, and to be honest, in not a huge fan of red meat, especially at 7am, but OH loves it, and as we had a very early start and a long day, it seemed like a good idea, and I did enjoy it as a one off)

Lunch; baked potato, beans and salad (healthy choice at a restaurant, was very disappointed to be honest. Everyone else had beautiful food, whilst mine was microwaved and abit soggy....I did feel good that I managed to resist all of the naughty yummy things though)

Dinner; Singapore chow mein ( tasted amazing!! Usually OH and I would order 3 main dishes and share between us, and a few starters too....we would never eat it all, but quite liked the choice, and trying a few things. But the Singapore noodles were way more satisfying just on their own, really didn't miss all of the extras. We asked them to cook it is as little oil as possible, so I'm sure it was quite low in syns, but I counted it as my full 15 just incase)

Snack; lots of coffee with hea milk, tonnes of fruit for the journey.

All in all, a pretty successful day, used 15 syns, but could have been a lot worse (especially as my parents own a restaurant and pub!)

So today's food....ee again;

Breakfast, bacon, eggs, BBQ beans, homemade hash browns.

Lunch, roast pork with syn free potatoes, loads of free veggies, a splash if gravy (1.5 syns) fruit salad with yogurt and merangue (2 syns)

Cheese on toast (hea and heb)

Will have hot choc (2) with milk (4) and curly whirly (5) later.

Total syns today 14.5

OH and I have planned a few meals for this week, so hopefully it'll be another good one. Meal ideas are; chilli, five spice gammon, Thai pork meatballs, wrap pizza and chips, and lobster prawn and chilli linguine.

Weigh in tomorrow; we have to go to a different slightly earlier class though because of other commitments, but I feel slightly lighter this week, so I'm hoping for a good loss!

All the best tomorrow. Yes red is very expensive in my opinion and I personally found myself hungry as I simply couldn't afford to nunch chicken breasts all day haha.
Yea the hifi light are 2 as a hexb. I dont always have them but when I do I have to be careful not to eat the whole box In one go haha.

-6 for me tonight.....woo :) and -0.5 for OH! Both delighted!

I bought some HiFi light bars, so the plan for this week is to eat less syns and cut down on carbs.

My weight loses are usually a few small ones followed by a big one, so I think I'm going to have to be extra good this week to see anything on the scales next week!
