Slim By September: A Trainee Teacher's Battle (again)

A determined Bear
Hi all! Not new to the forum, nor to slimming world (this is my third shot, oops...) But I figured a food diary couldn't hurt. I just rejoined SW Online, since I have no chance of getting to group with such a hectic and ever-changing work/study schedule. My turning point this time was putting my height (5ft 8 ) and weight (14st6) into a BMI calculator and seeing I had just fallen into the seriously overweight range. Time to sort this out, I thought.... So first, a bit about me: - I'm a trainee teacher, specialising in the Early Years (so I spend lots of time running around after 3-5 year olds!) - I want to be slim and confident by the time I start teaching my own class next September (preferably before!) - I currently wear anything between a 12-16, depending on item of clothing and shop, and am aiming for size 10-12 jeans! - I live in Surrey, and commute to London every day for my course (expensive, tiring, but so worth it in the end) - I am vegetarian, so will be following the Green plan, as I did the first time I joined SW during college (I won't let SW push me into EE- I want me extra Healthy Extras!) - I have a lovely, supportive boyfriend (slim as anything and eats like nothing I've ever seen) who hasn't even noticed I've put on weight recently, apparently... (skeptical) - I love MEXICAN FOOD AND PASTA! So, that's me. I'm a returner so know the basics, but am a bit rusty with my old Healthy Extra and Syn knowledge, so if I'm doing something wrong, please please let me know. Anyway, I'll be starting my food diary properly tomorrow. Here's to a new (hopefully final) start. Clairebear x

Right, here goes my first day!

Breakfast: cup of tea, Onken fat free natural yogurt, honey (2 tsp, 2 syns) granola (B choice) and an orange.

Lunch: lots pasta, onions, peas, garlic and mushrooms (fried in frylight) and 75g extra light soft cheese (B choice) for the sauce.

Dinner: potato, cheese and onion pie. I love cheese, so used both my HEX A choices for this ;) Mashed potato, sweetcorn, eggs, cheese, thyme and parsley, and bake it all in the oven. Had it with a couple of quorn sausages (2 syns).

Snacks: pack of quavers (5 1/2) and 2 Terry's chocolate orange segsations (4 syns) 1 rich tea finger (1 syn)
Total syns: 15

Overall, pretty fine with today. I was in a terrible mood due to lack of sleep when I got home and mindlessly ate the two segsations (only checked syn value after, oops) in a kind of ragey/stressy funny five minutes. But it's done, and it was luckily within syns. Dinner was lush. Found it on Minimins, tastes like a cheese and onion pasty and so filling and comforting for winter. Mmmmm.

Day two!

Breakfast: on the train as usual, eating a little slice of leftover cheese and onion pie from last night, but I'm right in thinking I won't need to worry about the cheese since I accounted for it yesterday. Just couldn't finish it all. At least I hope I am... Then I have some fat free yogurt, with pomegranate seed and 2 tsp honey (2syns.)

Have an orange and cereal bar for snacks (HEB)

Lunch: I made some minestrone soup last night, with pasta, tomatoes, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, butter beans etc. Made loads! Soup for the next few days I reckon...

Dinner: OH wants enchiladas, and the wraps are 7 syns each. Filling and cheese can be accounted for with HeXA and free foods, so it's just the wraps. Might save my syns for two wraps...

New day! Did end up having enchiladas last night, ate more than I should have and felt very full after :p
Anyway, today I have nothing planned (except catching up on planning and assignments, boo) so I can cook some nice food for my breakfast and lunch, and think about what I'm going to eat tomorrow. On Sundays I go to watch OH play American Football, so am out all day. The place we're going has a cafe with jacket spuds so I might just go for one of those, and take some fruit to snack on...Hmmm...

Right today:
Breakfast: 3 egg omelette with some cheese (A choice) and spinach, 2 slices wholemeal toast (B choice)
Snacks: an orange
Lunch: Was out and about in town doing some shopping. Waited until I got home and had some quorn dippers in 2 more slices of wholemeal bread. So bad but so good. (B choice and 5 syns)
Dinner: STEAK NIGHT. For me that means a quorn peppered steak, slimming world chips and some steamed tenderstem broccoli.. Yummmmmmmmmmy. Also 1 tbsp ketchup (1 syns)

Now chilling out with a cup of tea and writing assignments/reports/lesson plans. And watching Harry Potter...

Didn't catch up on here yesterday, oops! Busy day and out of the house for almost all of it, but I think I managed a pretty good day given I had a pre ordered Christmas meal last night. It was mainly veggies, avoided gravy and didn't eat too many roasties.

Anyway today:
Breakfast: a quorn sausage sandwich (B+2 syns)
Lunch: spinach and potato soup, homemade, with tomatoes and wholemeal bread (B)
Dinner: something with pasta... Maybe pasta with baked beans and cheese, mmmm (A)

Been so rubbish at updating this recently, oops! Weighed in yesterday and lost 1lb which, given the chocolates at school for my last day, shortbread, and Christmas dinner at the weekend, is fine. I've put that behind me, and a loss is a loss :)
Fresh start today:
Breakfast: HEB porridge with 1tsp honey (1 syn) made up with water
Snacks: oranges and apples
Lunch: jacket potato, baked beans, HEXA cheddar cheese and 2 quorn sausages (2 syns)
Dinner: probably something with pasta.. Might make a SW macaroni cheese with some quark..
