Diary of a frustrated twenty something...

Hello Mini Mins!

My name is Charlotte and I'm 26 years old, I've been following diets on and off for probably the past six years and usually drop a stone and a bit and then give in. This year I am going on my first holiday with the fella and being a maid of honour for my best friends wedding so I really want this to be the year that I drop the 3 stone I need to drop in order to fit into a nice size 10! I've been following Slimming World strictly for the last 3 days and when I took a naughty sneaky look at the scale this morning and I seem to have gained a pound?! :( I am not attending a group until Feb as money is tight this month so I wondered if I have been doing something wrong which led me to starting this here diary! I also thought this might help me to stay on track! I'll write down what I ate yesterday and if anyone could point out what I'm doing wrong that would be fantastic! :) I haven't got any fry light so I'm using oil - wondering if this could be something to do with it even though I am using my syns for it? Anyway, here goes...

Starting weight (Thursday 2nd Jan) - 12st 5lb

Food for Sat 4th Jan - Extra Easy

Brunch

Mushrooms (SF), 2 eggs scrambled (F), Bacon (F), dash of whole milk (HxA), 1 x slice wholemeal bread (HxB), 1 x tsp marg (2syns)

Afternoon snack

1 x nectarine (SF), Aldi Brooklea fat free vanilla yoghurt (2 syns)

Dinner

Chicken Curry - Chicken (F), Fat free natural yoghurt (F), curry powder (F), mushrooms (SF), Green pepper (SF), chopped tomatoes (SF), chicken stock (F), sweet potato (F), butternut squash (SF) brown rice (F), 1 x tsp oil (2 syns)

Snack

3 x Werthers Original Chewy Toffee's (4.5 syns)

Total Syns - 10.5

That seems like a lot for tea but as most of it was SF veg I think that's ok?! Possibly I ate too much at tea time and that caused the gain?

If anyone could tell me where I'm going wrong that would be great! I must from now on not get on the scales until my official weigh in on Thursday as I know that scale hopping can be damaging, I immediately wanted a packet of crisps this morning as I though well, whats the point. I won't though, I'm staying strong!

I'm now going to write a food plan for the next week which should all be fine with the exception of Weds where I am travelling and attending a client meeting all day - hopefully I can pick up some fruit on the train and they will provide a semi healthy lunch!

I'll be back on to update with todays food later!

hi charlotte, good luck with achieving your target, im sure you prob just got on the scales too early, gl for your official weighing date xx

I know everyone says it but just try to not weigh yourself until your official day, get someone to hide the,. My boyfriend puts mine somewhere and gets them out every Saturday morning for me and then I know what my weight is once a week. Our body's fluctuate with water etc and it depends if you weighed yourself at a different time of day compared to your starting weigh in. Don't worry it will come off good luck x

Thank you both! Had a really good day on plan today :) will update after tea and you know when you just feel thinner? I think it's less bloatage from not drinking etc so feeling better :)

Haha ACH my boyfriend has done that for me too! When I told him how frustrated he was he went and his them! Good idea I think ;) xx

Everything on your food seems alright, not your time of the month coming up or anything?? How about drinking more water so you can get rid of any water you're retaining. you probably already know all this. Good Luck, hope you see a loss next time you get weighed if you keep being good. :) x

Thanks pineappleplant :) I'm actually drinking more water, a lot more than usual so possibly a bit of water retention? I'm sure that I'll see a loss come weigh in on Thursday! Spent today planning, looking a the slimming world hash tag on ********* so very motivated now! x

Hahaha, that is very good. I am guzzling water like it is going out of fashion at the moment, really want a good first week on it. x

me too! I want a positive loss this week! Fingers crossed for you too :) x

Today has been another fabulous day on plan, feeling much more positive thanks to the lovely people of Minimis and a talking to from the other half! I'm trying to use most of my syns within my meals instead of on high fat treats just to avoid temptation in the first month or so, I'm also having a dry January so no alcohol for me unless its in my Bolognese sauce! Here is todays food plan...

Sunday 5th Jan - Extra Easy

Bacon & Mushroom Omlette - 2x egg (F), bacon (F), mushrooms (SF), tsp marg (2 syns), 30g cheddar (HxA)

That tea sounds massive, but a lot of it was in the pie! Plenty of SF and delicious! Just about to get my lunch prepared for tomorrow - fried rice and veggies - get a bath and snuggle up to watch Celeb BB at 9! Feeling very full and satisfied so sure that I won't be needing anything else later! All in all, a good end to a slightly rubbish beginning of the day! :)

Hello ladies!

Today has been another day on plan - feeling bloody fantastic and more determined than I have been in years! Only two more days until WI so fingers crossed, a little worried about my trip to Andover on Weds and the lunch that might come with it but there's no point worrying until I know what I'm up against! Anyway, ended up having to go on a team lunch with work which I had completely forgotten about so my lovely pre prepared rice dish is still in the fridge in the office ready for tomorrow - sure it will be ok! We went to Weatherspoons so I did a quick Minimins search to see which food would be the best to eat - I wasn't holding my hopes up but saw that the sweet chilli noodles were only 1.5 syns without the chicken (please prove me wrong if this is incorrect!) so I decided that this was probably my best option! They were really yummy and definitely not bad for just over £3 on the saver menu! So here is todays food plan!

Monday 6th January - Extra Easy

Breakfast

1 x nectarine (SF) & Aldi Brooklea fat free raspberry and cranberry yoghurt (2 syns)

Lunch

Weatherspoons Sweet Chilli Noodles & Veg (1.5 syns)
Dinner

Spaghetti Bolognese Bake - Mince (Aldi less than 12% fat - 2syns), 1 x tsp oil (2 syns), dash of red wine (1 syn), Mushrooms (SF), pasta (F), chopped tomatoes (SF), beef stock (F), onion & garlic (SF), bacon (F), topped with 45g mozzarella (HxA) and 1 x slice of wholemeal bread whizzed into breadcrumbs (HxB)

Total syns - 8.5

Dinner was delicious and the bread and mozzarella topping made a nice alternative to the usual mounds of cheese! Still feeling really full and satisfied tonight so no more syns for me. I don't want to speak too soon but could it be that I am finally going to stick to this diet?! I sure hope so!

Love Charlotte x

I've had the sweet chilli noodles before I was on SW and wouldn't have guessed they had such a lovely low syn value. Good to know in case I visit anytime soon, it's **** when a diet stops you eating out. Sounds like another good days eating anyway! keep it up babe. :) xx

Thanks ladies :) pineappleplant I agree! They were delicious and so low in syns! It is rubbish for eating out - my have is the Pizza Express Leggara's - used to have them even when I wasn't dieting but found out they are 13.5 syns for half a pizza :( there's barely anything there - so no Pizza Express for us for a while!

Today has been another on plan although I had a rice lunch and kind of forgot and had a rice based tea too - oops! Never mind - all on plan and still to have my HX's, thinking a slice of toast with dairylea light in a bit :) Anyway, here's for the food!

Tuesday 7th January - Extra Easy

Breakfast

1x nectarine (SF), Aldi fat free vanilla yoghurt (2 syns)

Lunch

Homemade egg fried rice salad - rice (F), 1x egg (F), cucumber (SF), pepper (SF) celery (SF), tinned sweetcorn (F)

Dinner

Chicken & Chorizo Jambalya - chicken (F), Oil 1x tsp (2 syns), chorizo 50g (3.5 syns), rice (F), mushrooms (SF), pepper (SF), chopped tomatoes (SF), chicken stock (F), onion & garlic (SF)

Total syns - 7.5

As I said before, not had my HX A&B yet so might have a slice of toast before bed. All in all another good day and still feeling positive! Weigh in on Thursday and a day out at a client meeting tomorrow so got my healthy brekki prepped and I'm just hoping that the lunch isn't too unhealthy! I would assume it will be sandwiches or something similar but we will see!

Well, I didn't fill my diary in yesterday - naughty! - the trip away was a bit of a nightmare, out of the house from 5am until 8 and the food wasn't great. I managed on a quarter of a cheese sandwich and some fruit and then a train station chilli with rice on the way home. It could have been worse - I avoided the crisps and chocolate brownies but I think the majority of what I ate was syn heavy so I'm just writing it off as a bad day!

Anyway, weigh in was this morning - the scales were still playing up a bit and gave me a few different weights (really need to go back to group!) but they settled on 12st 3 consistently so I guess that means a loss of 2lb. I'm a bit disappointed to be honest but it's a loss and a decent one at that. I need to remember that 2 pounds a week will see me a skinny minnie come the end of June so I have to be happy with that :) I've utilised my chalk board as a weight loss board to keep me motivated and I'm trying my best to not go off track. Really wanted a Chinese tonight as its WI day but realised that that would be demotivating and going in the wrong direction so a full day on plan instead :)

Today was alright food wise - due to my tiredness and late night I didn't really prep for lunch so I decided I'd have a tin of spaghetti and a slice of toast and call it a green day! So here is today's food:

Thursday 9th January - Green day

Breakfast

Nothing - I literally was so busy at work that I didn't realise I hadn't eaten it until it was too late and I was about to go into a meeting at 10. Lots of water though.

Lunch

Spaghetti in tomato sauce (F), 1 x slice of wholemeal bread (HxB), toffee muller (F)

Dinner

Jacket potato (F) topped with 90g bacon (HxB), mushrooms (SF), chicken stock (F), sweetcorn (F), 2 x Dairylea cheese triangles (HxA) & a side salad of lettuce, cucumber and celery (SF)

Snack - Plain hobnob (3.5 syns)
EDIT: I also had a Christmas tree chocolate (5 syns)

Total syns - 8.5

i might have some more syns before bed as 3.5 is unusually low for me but we don't have much in so I'm not too sure. Fancy a little chocolate treat so I'll see what we have left from Christmas - might have a tree decoration though it's a guess how many syns they would be - probably 5 each.

Got my pasta salad to finish getting ready tomorrow - pasta and bacon are cooked so just need to do the salad bit so all should be good then :) I have to say that after the first week I am really excited to continue the SW journey! :)

Love

Hello!

Today has been another good day so far. I had a little chocolate treat last night so I have amended my food diary accordingly! I am surprised by how well I am just getting through it this time with no urges to go in Greggs for a bacon sandwich before work (I work above a Greggs, bad times) and a baguette at lunch time. You know when people say they just get their head around it finally and do it? That's kind of how I feel! Anyway, not much else to report today so here is the food!

Friday 10th January - Extra Easy

Breakfast

1 x nectarine (SF), Aldi Brooklea fat free yoghurt (2 syns)

Lunch

Pasta salad - pasta (F), bacon (F), cucumber, celery, cucumber, pepper (all SF), fat free natural yoghurt (F), lemon juice (F)
Dinner

Homemade burgers & Chips - Mince (less than 12% fat - 2 syns), onion (SF), garlic (SF), potato (F), Frylight (F), roasted butternut squash (SF), grilled mushrooms (SF), 1 x wholemeal roll (HxB), 20g cheddar (HxA), ketchup x 1 tbs (1 syn)

Snack
1 x hobnob plain - 3.5 syns

Total syns - 8.5 syns

All in all a good day, a bit peckish now but I don't think I will have anything else as it's nearly time to sleep! Hope you've all had a good day!

Love,

Charlotte x

Well, a late one today - I almost forgot to fill out my diary! Today has been another good day. I went to my mums for lunch and she had all this lovely crusty french bread which I am proud to say I avoided - my mum was shocked to say the least as crusty bread is my absolute fave. I'm really proud though and it has reiterated to me that I definitely am feeling driven on this diet! I also got weighed at my mums on her really good Weight Watchers scales and I was 12st1 to say I weighed 12st6 on mine this morning I think it is safe to say my scales are broken. I've decided that I need to spare a fiver a week for group for my sanity on the scales so will be joining on Tuesday :)

Anyway, the food today...

Saturday 11th January - Extra Easy

Breakfast

1 x nectarine (SF), Aldi Brooklea fat free yoghurt (2 syns)

Lunch

Salad of rocket, cucumber, tomato, pepper, cucumber, celery, spring onion (SF), ham (F), 3 x ryvita (HxB), half a mini pot of Philli extra light (1 syn)

Dinner

Slimming World chicken lasagne - chicken (F), mushrooms (SF), onion & garlic (SF), pepper (SF), chopped tomatoes (SF), chicken stock (F), dash of wine (1 syn), pasta (F), fat free natural yoghurt (F), egg (F), cheese (HxA), salad of lettuce, cucumber and celery (SF)

Total syns - 3 syns

I think I should eat some more syns really so I might have a tree chocolate for 5 syns (guessing) or a hot chocolate but as it's late I'm not too sure! I feel like I have missed something off syns wise but it doesn't seem like I have. All in all a good day and looking forward to group on Tuesday! Me and the boy are going out for lunch tomorrow with a group on voucher we got for Christmas which I am excited about but fingers crossed it won't be full of high syn options!
