My Slimming World Food Diary (CurvyKitschen)

Hi everyone!

I'm Catie (a serial dieter) trying out Slimming World for the first time. After seeing so many successful weight-loss journeys as a result of Slimming World and considering how yummy all the recipes that I've come across look (I can't believe you can make syn-free chips!), I thought I should at least give it a whirl! :p

To make sure I stay on track (as I have history of straying ;)) I've decided to document my food diary on here. Any help, support, feedback tips & tricks would be greatly appreciated as I'm completely new to this (and haven't even joined a group yet! :sigh:) and haven't ever posted on here before (so I'm not really sure how this all works - bear with me!).

I'm desperate to lose at least 5 stone by the time I graduate from university in November 2015 so here's hoping this works out for me this time!:D

Monday 27th January 2014

Breakfast: I skipped breakfast today :( one of my doggies is poorly so I had to take him to the hospital and by the time I got back it was lunch time!

Lunch: Baked beans on 2 slices of wholemeal toast (HEB x1) with spinach mixed in. I then had tomatoes, kiwi and grapes on the side for my superfree

Dinner: Butternut squash and sweet potato curry (recipe to follow - lots of superfree in here) with boiled rice

Snacks: Frozen watermelon (sounds weird I know but I love it!)

Exercise: Day 1 of 'Couch to 5K' work out app (I can safely say I will never be subjecting myself to that again!:p)

HEA 1 - N/A
HEB 1 - 2 slices of wholemeal toast
HEB 2 - N/A

Total Syns: 0

I didn't use all of my healthy extras today and use no syns at all. Is this bad? I'm finding slimming world pretty hard as I'm used to banning all 'naughty' foods completely from my diet and then giving in a week later scoffing down a box of chocolates. I realise this obviously is bad but I feel that if I eat any bad foods i'll just give in straight away (if I eat one chocolate, I've gotta have the whole damn box!). If anyone could help me get my head round this it'd be much appreciated!

Oh and by the way I forgot to say, I'm a vegetarian so I'll be following the green plan

welcome ,Im doing sw from home & using this forum, I would suggest using your syns so you don't feel deprived & end up bingeing(which I have done) try mikados as they are only half a syn each so you could eat nearly the whole box if you wanted to lol I normally use around 5 syns on week days & increase to 15 if need be on a sat as that's my tough day to stick to plan but ive lost nearly a stone in 4 weeks.Lots of luck on your first week :)

Hi tamkat! :)

Thanks so much for writing back! It's so lovely hearing advice from someone in the same predicament as me (and with really similar stats!). Yeah I always end up binging :/ Definitely going to give the mikados a go! :) Well done on nearly losing a stone, you've done it so quickly! I hope I have the same success as you! Good luck with the rest of your journey! :) xxx

thanks ive had a lot of starts & stops the last few months finally my head seems to be in right place again :)

Found you! Subscribing! Slimming World is fab, I loved it and am using a lot of the same principles in my healthier diet :) can't wait to see how you get on!!

The butternut curry sounds fab, I'll be giving that one a go!

You can use your syns to add a bit of non free to your recipes, I was using them for stuff like extra cheese in pasta or a bit of cream in curries, as well as a couple of little treats. Best advice I can give a fellow binger is buy your treats when you're having them, multipacks are the devil as far as I'm concerned, cos certainly for me if they're there I'll eat them, whereas if I buy, say, a bueno I break it up into its six pieces and have them through the Day with a couple left as a test for evening :)

Hey Claire! Thanks for subscribing! I've been so busy this past week since my dog has been poorly but I'm committed to posting from now on! I've not joined a group but I'm weighing myself for the first time today so I'm super excited to see how much I've lost! :) You are so right about multipacks!!!! I always used to get them and then just binge on them...8 kitkats in one sitting ...totally doable :p your advice about the kinder bueno is amazing - I can't wait to try it out :)

I see from your signature you're doing a VLCD...how's it going? Good luck on your journey :)

Okay so I've been a bit lackadaisical with posting on here (I've only done one diary day :p) but I have been keeping track of my food and exercise on myfitnesspal (the best app ever!!!) So luckily for me it should be easy enough to catch up!

I'm not doing a vlcd any more, but using mobile and no idea how to change my Sig without the computer lol! I'm just doing healthier eating now, think I jumped to the notion of a quick fix when what I really need is a lifestyle change, so that's where I'm at! I'm kind of using the Slimming World principles, but not rigidly, I'm just aiming for mainly free and superfree but not following the plan as such. I'm not weighing in for 100 days so don't know yet how it's going lol, trying to Madge this about heath not weight, but it's difficult lol, I'm really trying to reset my thinking about food, self life coaching hhahaha!

8 kit Kats is nothing mate, it's so easily done if they're there haha!

Your diary looks good luv, I love the Slimming World principles, they really encourage healthier choices and it feels relatively effortless!

I don't know how you even tried a vlcd! I think I'd pass out! :p I can definitely see why you'd want to give it a go though....I'm always wanting a quick fix too...it's hard to get it in my head that it's going to take a long time if I want it to actually last! That's a good plan...you're right, if you want a lifestyle change there's no point in being really rigid! Oooo why 100 days? Just to see what happens? Thanks, I'm glad it's going well! :)

Hi!
Just spotted your diary and thought I'd say hello :)

What doggies do you have? Hope the one that was sick is ok? I have a few pets and also work in a veterinary hospital.

For your syns and Hex's I would suggest you use your healthy extras and at least 5 syns a day if you can. I try and use 5 syns and then save up what's left for treats or if I have an off-plan meal or something :)

Are you a veggie too?xx
