A yummy (and happier and healthier) mummy - for good this time!

Hi,
So I've decided to keep my food diary on minimins to keep my motivation up!
A brief overview of me:
I'm Lisa, mid/ late twenties and mummy to my amazing (almost) 17 month old, Reece. Getting married on 18th April 2015 and needing to lose the weight- in time for my wedding but the long term goal is to keep it off so Reece has a healthier mummy.
Done diets before and haven't stuck to them or I've gained it all back and more within a few months.
I've struggled with my weight since I was a teen (thinking I was fat and looking back now I wanna slap myself as I was no where near fat!) and struggling with depression that can be so bad I cry for hours on end for no real reason. Hoping trying to do something positive with my weight will also help me feel better in that aspect too.
Doing slimming world (obvs!) and mostly stick to extra easy. I can be a food creature of habit so expect some repetition!
Feel free to post and chat if anyone wants!
Xxx

Today's food-
B: Banana
L: 3 x wholegrain ryvita topped with 3 x cheese triangles and tomatoes- hexa and hexb
D: Pasta salad (pasta, chicken pieces, tomatoes, cucumber, 8 x stuffed olives 2 syns, radishes, red bell pepper and fat free French dressing)
Snacks: Frozen berries and a free yoghurt, cheese curl crisps 4.5 syns, 9 x mikado sticks 4.5 syns, grapes, another banana.
Drinks: Cups of tea (sweetener and 100ml skimmed milk 2 syns), water, flavoured fizzy water.
Syn total - 13

Feel awful about all those mikado sticks- got my time of the month and craved some chocolate and bread-type sticks!!
The future in laws are visiting tomorrow and we are going to be dining out most of the back holiday weekend- going to try and make healthy choices but been avoiding eating out since starting SW a month ago...

Hi newbie as well, around the same age (ok very late 20's) with a nearly 6 and nearly 3 year old. Just wanted to say good luck on your journey and don't feel bad about the sticks, that's what's syns are for!

Thank you sugarrush! I just cant help with those sticks- they are a great sweet treat but I cant stop at one!!
Good luck to you as well!

Todays food-
B: Banana (theme already starting here!)
L: Grapes and Banana
D: BBQ Chicken (approx 2tbsp BBQ sauce 2syns), Small portion chips (7syns) and cheese (5syns) and peas.

Snacks: Strawberries and more grapes
Drinks: Costa small skinny vanilla iced latte (skimmed milk hexA, 2 pumps of syrup 2syns), cups of tea (sweetener and 100ml skimmed milk 2syns), water.
Syn total - 18

Went out for dinner (the future in laws are visiting) so I purposely had a no syn day apart from dinner and my essential coffee and tea! Kinda impressed with my control as the dessert menu was hugely tempting although a little disappointed with the dinner choice- I just didnt fancy a salad and the range wasnt great... The portion of chips was TEENY though (anything to justify my choice!)

Another day of eating out and eating at irregular times today! The Future In-laws are going home early tomorrow so I will be back on plan 100%. I knew this weekend would be difficult and possibly not the best weekend to start a food diary but I will get back on plan and lose the weight.

B: Half a banana (my one year old had the other half!)
L: Ate at a Flaming Grill pub place. Had chicken topped with BBQ sauce (approx 2tbsp- 2syns), Bacon (had fat on- AND I ATE IT! The shame! 2syns) and small amount of cheese (5syns). Served with small portion (deep fried) chips (7syns) and some fried onions/ bell peppers (allowing 1tbsp for cooking oil - 6syns)
D: Strawberries and fat free yoghurt.

Snacks: Banana and grapes.
Drinks: Costa skinny vanilla latte (skimmed milk hexA, 2 pumps of syrup 2syns), cups of tea (sweetener and 100ml skimmed milk 2syns), water, bottle of Carling Zest (5syns)
Syn total - 31 :(

Have noticed I havent used my hexB for the past 2 days- I dont know why I find this so hard to use. I love cereal bars but now Alpen Lights are not a hexB (plus they are HUGELY expensive!) and I dont go to group (Im online at home due to my time restrictions with work and Reece) so I cant get HiFi bars. I guess I need to find other (cheaper!) cereal bars I can have for this option.
I would use the bread and have toast but I cant have toast without butter/ spread!!

Back on plan today and cooking my own meals so I can easily control the syns. Tried a recipe for a very easy and quick paella style dish today- one I found on the amazing sticky thread on the Recipe board called "Delicious meals with minimum ingredients". Would highly recommend this thread to anyone!

B: Strawberries and a banana
L: 3 x multigrain ryvitas (hexB) topped with 3 x dairylea cheese triangles (hexA) and cherry tomatoes. A tomato and herb mugshot- so pleased these are FREE!! A fat free yogurt and strawberries for dipping!
D: Very easy paella- rice, 50g chorizo (3.5syns), chicken breast, onions, peas and prawns.

Snacks: Snacksize bag of cadbury buttons (4syns). Carrots, Celery, Cherry Tomatoes, Satsuma and an Apple (had a very VERY hungry day for some reason!)
Drinks: Cups of Tea (sweetener and 100ml skimmed milk- 2syns), flavoured carbonated water and plain water.
Syn Total - 9.5syns

May have an options hot chocolate later but not sure so not going to add it yet- may edit later for it!!

Yay for being back on plan! Back to work tomorrow and I work horrible long days (10am until 8pm on Monday and Tuesdays) but I tend to do alright. Hopefully Im not as hungry as I was today.
Oh and I found some old style hexB Alpen Light bars in my local Tesco- they even had the Cherry Bakewell flavour!! So happy. They have the Special K Chewy Delight bars but I can only ever find them in chocolate and I like having a mixture of flavours or I get bored easily (not that youd be able to tell from my constant breakfast choice!)

I didn't know a small bag of buttons was 4 syns, yum! Just got to get it past the kids.

Well done for getting back on plan.

Oh yea I love chocolate buttons! Mainly because they are pure chocolate goodness. And agree with having to sneak them past the kids! My boy is only 17 months and he already recognises the Cadbury purple and goes crazy when he sees it! Just make sure it is the snack size bag so you dont get alot of them for your syns but I either nibble or let them melt in my mouth!!

Had a crappy day at work today so was so tempted to scoff my face with chocolate and bread!! I have a boring call centre job (pays well but the levels of stress are not good for a depression prone person like me). I was literally crying in the loos :( But staying on plan does make me feel like Ive accomplished something so YAY for a mini victory!

B: Nothing... Oops! Had to get ready and run out the door!
L: 2 x M&S Sushi Snack Packs (0.5syns each = 1syn). M&S Count on us crisps (4.5syns). Fresh fruit salad (strawberries, melon and grapes)
D: 2 x Cadbury Fingers (1.5syns each = 3syns). Tangerine. Got home late from work (I finish at 8pm and dont get home until almost 9pm) and dont fancy eating that late...

Snacks: Even more free fruit. Carrot and celery batons. Fat free yogurt. Cherry Bakewell Alpen Light Bar (old recipe so HexB).
Drinks: Starbucks Skinny Caramel Latte (Skimmed Milk HexA, 2 x pumps of caramel syrup 2syns), water.
Syn Total - 10.5syns

And I didnt have the options hot chocolate last night!

Aw hun sorry you had a rubbish day at work. Just think you stayed on plan even with a rubbish day and didn't even go over syns, your obviously stronger than your job! I'd of ate the chocolate aisle of my local shop!

Thanks a lot Sugarrush! I was pleased that I didnt devour a packet of biscuits when I got home! I never used to like biscuits very much but now I cant have them (or they are not worth the high syns for the chocolate/ sugar and flour content) I crave them at times!
Another reason I like mikado's I suppose with the little biscuit stick- and I found a recipe on the forum above for Oaty "Cookies". 5 syns for the recipe as its just hexB of oats and 100g mushed banana (5 syns because its cooked) and I adore them if I have the hex and syns to spare! Just that cookie/ hobnob texture I crave!!

Today I had a doctors appointment because I have been so down lately and my mood at work- given my past history he decided to sign me off for 2 weeks so I can get myself together and regroup. It may even be what my employers need to finally understand that I need some support... Well I can hope with that last bit.

Todays food:
B: Couple of strawberries and a banana
L: Chicken salad (cooked chicken breast, 40g reduced fat cheddar hexA, lettuce, radish, tomatoes, cucumber and a splash of free dressing). Bag of Tesco Cheese Curls (4.5syns). Fat free yogurt.
D: Spanish Omelette (eggs, 50g Chorizo 3.5syns, onion, bell peppers, new potatoes), SW potato wedges and a side salad.

Snacks: Alpen Light Bar (old recipe hexB), Fruit Salad (melon, strawberries, grapes and a banana). Asda mini bubbly bite (3syns).
Drinks: Cups of Tea (sweetener and 100ml skimmed milk 2syns). Water.
Syn Total - 13syns

Ive only just had the 3syn bubbly bite- teeny tiny for 3syns but oh so worth it!! I love buying snacksize chocolate bars for the little chocolate hit as they are usually under 5syns (although if I am treating myself then you cant beat a caramel freddo for 5syns!)

Boring day in doors today as the weather has been complete and utter rubbish! Had an enjoyable day playing and having cuddles with Reece though!

Todays food:
B: Melon and strawberries.
L: 3 x multigrain ryvitas (hexB) topped with 3 x dairylea cheese triangles (hexA) and cherry tomatoes. Pack of Tesco Cheese Curls (4.5syns). Satsuma.
D: Low fat Supernoodles, scrambled eggs and roasted cherry tomatoes.

Snacks: Frozen berries and fat free yogurt. Half a banana. More melon and strawberries.
Drinks: Cups of Tea (sweetener and 100ml skimmed milk 2syns). Flavoured fizzy water. Options Indulgence Hot Chocolate (3syns).
Syn Total - 9.5syns

Doing well! The oat cookie things sound delish may make them tomorrow!

It's good you have been signed off if you need the time. Sometimes a little bit of time is all you need. Hope it helps x

Oh and my treat is a curly wurly if I have the syns!

Feeling so bloated and fat the past few days- still hoping for a loss for weigh in tomorrow though!

Today's food:
B: Melon and strawberries
L: 2 x cheese on toast (2 slices from 400g loaf hexB, marmite and 40g reduced fat cheddar hexA). Mango. Fat free yogurt.
D: Sausage and tomato pasta (3 x Tesco meat free sausages - 0.5syn each 1.5syns, pasta, homemade SW friendly tomato sauce) and a side salad.

Snacks: Fruit salad (melon, grapes and strawberries), carrot sticks and a snacksize flake 3.5syns.
Drinks: Tea (sweetener and 100ml skimmed milk 2syns). Water. Sugar free squash and soda water.
Syn Total - 7syns

Curly wurly is 6 syns but they take quite a while to eat. I find the treat size is gone im one bite or maybe I'm just greedy!

How did your weigh in go?

6 syns isnt too bad considering its chocolate AND caramel! Plus all that chewing is bound to counter-act some of the calories right!!! Yum! And I agree with the bitesize stuff- I am now realising why I used to have more than one of them at a time!

Weigh in went okay- lost 2lbs! I am so surprised considering I feel so bloated! I have a typical mummy-tummy and it actually felt like it flattened a little in the first few weeks but now it feels puffy again so I was expecting a gain. Mustve just lost from another, less noticable part of my body (like my toes or something- not that they were ever fat!)

Todays food:
B: Nothing... Naughty me!
L: Tomato and Herb Mugshot. Fruit salad (melon, grapes, banana and strawberries).
D: Bachelors savoury rice and stir fried vegetables.

Snacks: Sweet chilli ryvita minis (hexB). Fat free yogurt and frozen berries.
Drinks: Starbucks medium caramel latte (skimmed milk hexA and 2 x pumps of syrup 2syns). Fizzy flavoured water. Bottle of Carling Zest (5syns) and soda water (whilst Im shamefully watching Eurovision!!)
Syn Total - 7syns

YAY two good low-ish syn days for me!!

Wow 2 lb is great keep it up! I have a mummy tummy but mine is like the extreme version. All saggy skin stretch marks etc plus I have a tattoo on my stomach that's now huge compared to when I had it done on my size 6 stomach at 18 and is shot through with lovely stretch marks now, not my best idea. I have king of realised now that whatever i do (short of surgery maybe? !) That ill have a mummy tummy but i think that I'm nearly 30 and don't want to be walking round im low riders and a top that barely covers my boobs now so i try not to stress about it ans just concentrate on trying to look good in my clothes!!!

Aww thanks! I was so pleased with a loss! Just half a pound and I'll have my one stone!! Another half a stone to go and I am going to reward myself with wedding dress shopping!

I have the saggy skin as well- I once heard it called an apron and I agree it is a little like that (but not as long thank goodness!) I moisturised whilst I was pregnant but it doesnt seem to have lessened the stretch marks- Im never going to be able to wear a bikini again! I think we should wear our stretch marks and mummy tummy with pride- we bore children! Im always very suspicious of those women without a single stretch mark LOL :p

Todays food:
B: A banana
L: Teeny taster of vanilla sponge wedding cake with splodge of buttercream and fondant icing (6syns) - Thank you sugarrush for the advice with synning this!
D: Salmon and roasted vegetable (butternut squash, courgette, cherry tomatoes, onion, garlic and a red bell pepper) cous cous.

Snacks: Alpen Light bar (old recipe so hexB). Another banana. Grapes.
Drinks: Cups of tea (sweetener and skimmed milk hexA). Flavoured fizzy water.
Syn Total - 6syns

Not had an overly hungry day today. The taster bit of cake was a necessary seems as I was at a wedding fayre and I do still need to sort out my wedding cake! In retrospect, I probably shouldve removed the fondant on top to save 2 syns (Ive syned 3 for the cake, 1 for the buttercream- it was the teeniest splodge and 2 for the fondant as it was a modest layer).
Must admit I am craving cake!

Has anyone tried that low syn cake in a cup thingy that you pop in the microwave?? Im sure Ive seen it somewhere...

Another not very hungry day :) Thinking that as the stress of work has been eased I am now not comfort eating (that I didnt even realise I was doing!) and running around after Reece and having to share every morsel I eat with him probably helps too!

Poor little thing is going through a huge seperation anxiety phase and I cant even pee without him sitting at the bottom of the stairs crying for me. To make things worse, my mum may not be able to have Reece whilst Im working anymore so Ive got to find a nursery or a childminder for him- not great whilst he is behaving like this :( Plus the expense is going to be a little bit of a struggle... More stress!!

Anyway, back to food!
B: Banana
L: 2 x cheese on toast (2 slices from 400g loaf hexB, marmite and 40g reduced fat cheddar hexA). Chicken and Mushroom noodle mugshot. Banana.
D: Tuna and tomato pasta (roasted tomatoes and garlic, tinned tuna, pasta and lemon juice- was delish!).

Snacks: Satsuma. Fat free yogurt. Small milkybar- the 69kcal ones (3.5syns). Grapes.
Drinks: Cups of tea (sweetener and skimmed milk 2syns). Flavoured fizzy water.
Syn Total - 5.5syns

I wrote a reply to to your previous post yesterday while I was ill about buying wedding dresses but don't know where I actually posted it because it's not here!! Anyway don't feel pressured into trying on a dress because the dress lady tells you, make sure you choose something that makes you feel like a princess and shows off all your hard work. They tried to sell me a whopping great meringue with a 5 ft train, i'm only 5 ft 3 it swamped me!

Not tried the low syn cake in a mug or the normal one but apparently the normal one is lovely.

Agh hate that stage. Both mine went through a stage of insisting they needed a cuddle while I was having a wee! Couldn't understand why I said no and then there was the lying on the floor hugging my leg while I did the dishes...I feel your pain.

You have had some good low syn days think you will defiently get your one stone and a bit!
