Going it alone - Help!!! EE plan

Hi everyone!

I'm totally new to this site and posting in general so please correct my rambling if necessary. I started SW last year around the same time, lost 10lbs very quickly but then stopped as had some health issues. Have moved house, job and life basically so figured now would be a good time to get back on it.. No classes this time though due to not fitting in with busy job so going it alone!! The last two days I've found myself using this site to check syns etc and thought I should just join in really.
I'm planning on just sticking with EE. My two biggest downfalls are the fact I spend sooo much time travelling that I often find myself in bad food situations eg airports, petrol stations..
and also my boyfriend; love him but his idea of cooking is picking up the phone, and he always has treats in the house.

I thought I would start by sharing my food dairy for yesterday and then will update today's food later..

Breakfast: pear and count on us m&s yoghurt- FREE

Lunch: home made soup (butternut squash, potato, celery, stock)
Apple

Snacks: 3x snack a jacks chocolate flavour = 9 syns
Diet coke

Dinner: SW chips
3 egg quorn chicken pieces and veg omelette (courgettes onion peppers)
Salad 2x tbls sainsburys be good to yourself light Caesar dressing = 2 syns

TOTAL: 11 syns

Tea x 3 = hex a

Just had SW style brunch :)
2 poached eggs, 4 bacon medallions, small tin beans, grilled toms
1x whole wheat pitta = hexB
cup of tea = some of hexA

bit rubbish on the super free foods. Try to make that up later
wondered what people thought on using syns? Do you try to stick under a certain number or use them all? How many people use flexi syns? (I am a fan of weekend wine..)

Hi, welcome and good luck.

I generally try to stay under 10 syns, around the 8 mark each day. Mine are mainly used on things like mayo, or for when I need a bit of chocolate or low syn crisps. Some people calculate theirs over a weekly basis which might work for you if you enjoy your wine. I do tend to eat more syns at the weekend and like to have things that seem more like treats.

Ah ok, thanks Hubz, learning already!

rest of food today following free brunch...
Snacks: diet coke, apple, 1 x chocolate snack a jack (3 syns)
Jacket potato with tuna (in brine, no mayo) and salad, tomatoes, peppers. 2 tbsp sainsburys be good to yourself Caesar dressing (2 syns)
1 cup of tea (using some hexA)

total syns: 5
pleased with a better day today. :)
planning to do some cooking tomorrow, force the boyfriend to go SW haha

Hi :wavey:

You seem to be in a similar predicament to me, especially when it comes to our partners!

I try and stick to 10 syns a day and tend to have all free meals throughout the day and use my syns on either a glass of wine in the evening or (my biggest weakness) a couple of biscuits with my bedtime cuppa.

Good luck and I shall follow your progress with interest.

Hi! Thanks for dropping by!
yes these partners can really get the way eh?

I've got a good one from last night...

just before we go to sleep he says..

"can we have takeaway pizza this weekend?"
me: "no"
him: "can we have asda pizza this weekend?"
me: "no..... We could make our own healthy ones or I could and you just get an individual one?"
him:".......(silence).... What about tacos"
me: *sigh*

so everyone the mission is make tacos as SW friendly as poss!
I'm thinking, the mince etc should be fine, syn the taco shells, mix some extra light Philly with natural yog for a sort of cheese/sour cream substitute and home make some free salsa??

Today's food:
was feeling so snack-y today, pretty pleased I didn't cave in to the wispa and beer I'm craving!

Breakfast - 2x nimble toast plain = hexB
2x poached eggs, grilled tomatoes

lunch- home made veg soup, another slice of nimble (2.5 syns)

snacks - count on us yoghurt (m&s), diet coke, apple, carrot

Dinner- spag Bol (5% fat mince) lots of veg in sauce, slim pasta spaghetti, rocket salad, 35g lighter cheddar = hexA

150ml of milk in few cups of tea = 3 syns

Total syns: 5.5 syns

I've got a sneaky feeling 35g is too much for cheddar hexA..any thoughts?

I think it's 30g of cheddar for hexA, but if it's low fat cheddar you can have 40g. I wouldn't stress too much over 5g though!

Great, thanks for the info :)

today's food;

breakfast: hexB 2x nimble, 2x poached eggs, mushrooms

snacks: apple, diet coke

lunch: pasta n sauce broccoli and cheese (0.5 syn) with most hexA and extra peas and broccoli

dinner: jacket potato, leftover Bolognese sauce, salad, 30g feta (4 syn)

aaaaannnnnd a beer. A bottle of brahma which I can't find syns for but based on other bottled lager I'm going to go with 5.5 syns. Maybe 6.

Total syns: 10? 12?

bleugh who cares it's Friday haha

I was obviously too tired last night- totally forgot I had a few shakes of Parmesan on the pasta so I'll add a syn for that and some tuna in my salad.. So all in all probably had my 15 syns yesterday.

having a very off day today, feeling a bit stressed about work and thinking it would be so much easier to just not diet! Managed to pick a fight with boyfriend too...oops.

breakfast: French toast with 2x nimble (hexB) sweetener and a poached pear and a count on us yoghurt.
Coffee with hexA milk.

catch up later

So yesterday... I don't know where to start with syns etc!
Ended up having massive fall out with boyfriend- cue emotional eating. By the time we 'made up' I hadn't the energy to cook or resist! Here goes..

snacks: 2 x snack a jacks chocolate (6 syns), 6 maltesers (3 syns), 1 can diet coke, 1 glass red wine small (6 syns)

dinner: not SW friendly tacos! Meat mix was free at least, side salad, and fat free Nat yog instead of sour cream.. But had lighter cheddar (bit more than 25g so call it 8 syns), and old El Paso salsa, about 5 tsp (2.5 syn), 3 shells (10 syns)
just realised the seasoning isn't free *sigh*, (3 syns).

right let's add this up.
total syns: 38.5 syns. Yowza. I'm glad I've added that up though and put it all out there, really makes you face up to the stuff you eat. Even when I was eating and knew it was full of syns I didn't think more than 30.

Guess who's having a free day today and never eating tacos again!!

Ok, today's food..

breakfast: one pear with nimble French toast (hexB)

snacks: diet coke, apple, few cups of tea (hexA)

lunch: bowl of homemade veg soup

dinner: homemade lamb curry (free), rice then totally not thinking went and put a spoonful of mango chutney on durr! Take 3 syns for that!

still.. Despite yesterday's overindulgence issues im still under total syns I could have over the last 6 days so should be ok.

Sure you'll be fine...we all have days where life gets the better of us and let's be honest we all use food to make us feel better, that's why we're on here in the first place! I usually blame dh as it's "always" his fault at least in my view, lol ;-)
We eat a lot of tacos but i cheat...i make sw chilli, leaving out the kidney beans, instead of the meat mix...instead of the sour cream i mix quark with plenty of garlic and salt and pepper...we always have tomatoes, cucumber and peppers chopped in little pieces...my hubby then loads all that and salsa into either a burrito wrap or taco shell and i just have all that on a plate with rice. Salsa isn't that bad syn wise...i found that the sainsbury's own salsa is lower in syns although i might not be an expert taste wise as i don't eat it, lol
Good luck with your weigh in...will stay subscribed to find out how you got in :-D

Weigh day update, 2lb loss this week, down to 11st06lb

Can't say Im really happy with that as expected a bit of a 'kick start' loss. I must admit I also had a sneaky weigh on Friday and was -4lbs so have put on 2 over the naughty weekend.
Still it's a loss, and with an incredibly stressful week ahead now I would be happy with another 2 off next week.

Food today:

breakfast: 35g porridge oats with blueberries and measured spoonful of jam (2 syns)
(hexB) (part of hexA- made it with half water half milk) rest of hexA used on few cups of tea

lunch: pasta with tuna(brine), pepper, tomato. 25g feta (3.5 syns)

snack: count on us yoghurt

dinner: salmon fillet with salad, balsamic vinegar and corn on the cob.

naughty kit kat mini in front of the tv oops. (2 syns)

total syns: 7.5

Food today:

breakfast: apple and count on us yoghurt

Lunch: jacket with beans

dinner: microwave pilau rice (couldn't find m&s syns so will pick a middle ground - 3 syns)
steamed veg, cooked chicken breast (I'm fairly sure this has syns; I took the skin off but it says it had some sugar on the ingredients though it was not flavoured or with a sauce or anything. Hmm I'll add another 3 for that)
3 tbsp of dressing (3 syns)

HexA- bit of milk in two cups of tea. No hexB
total syns: 9

Just popped in to say well done on your loss!

Stop weighing yourself!!! Stick to one day, same time and same circumstances. I weight Friday morning after a pee and before breakfast and in my birthday suit. You will have fluctuations throughout the day and throughout the week.

Also...don't feel guilty about using some syns on chocolate. It's what they're there for and stops you feeling deprived a D more likely yo succeed xx
