    Porridge Disaster!

My porridge went really wrong this morning and ended up a foul tasting watery mess. I couldn't bring myself to eat it so I fished out the fresh figs I'd put in at the end and just ate them. Do I still have to count the porridge as my HEB? I think I ate 2 - 3 spoonfuls of watery slop before I decided I couldn't force it down and then all the rest went down the sink!

Definitely NOT count it. You need your healthy extras so if you didn't eat it you need to choose another. If you are worried you can always reduce your syns for the day to compensate for the few wee bits you did get down, (I probably wouldn't bother - but it might make you feel happier). Take care .

I'm with Hollys Nan - lol. I personally like mine rib sticking & creamy.

I discovered from my little red measure set, 1/3 cup gives me the correct HEb allowance of oats so, 1 measure of oats + 2 measures of liquid (I use 1/2 & 1/2 of milk & water). Zap in micro for 1 min, stir & zap for another minute . . . mix in a free yogurt (or Muller greek for 1/2 syn) and voila, well scrummy.

I took your advice and didn't count it in the end! I was really hungry in the evening so I had 2 pieces of bread toasted instead with some marmite on it!!

I'm eating low syns everyday anyway (had 3 1/2 yesterday) because I know I'm going out for dinner with the boy on Saturday so I think it should be ok.

I think where I went wrong was that I made it up all thick and nice BEFORE I went to work and then I went to work and thought I'd some extra water cos it was already very thick but I guess the porridge had absorbed all the water it could so then it just went into those really hard lumps of porridge in water :\ It tasted horrible too not like porridge normally does but I think that might have been because it was manky water with those congealed lumps in it. I think the lesson is - make it up at work not before!

I use the pouches and you can measure the water out in the pouch after you pour the oats into the bowl so I normally do that and it turns out right. I like my porridge rib sticking too :P Not so fussed about creaminess although a lady at my group said to use Blue Diamond Almond Milk for it to make it creamy and nice so I think I might try that next week. Has anybody else tried that?

Yes think I may have mentioned in my previous posts I always use the blue diamond almond breeze milk, the unsweetened one. The allowance for the unsweetened one is 875 mls, the original sweetened 500 mls. Great amount for a hea! Enjoy. I posted on the previous page how I make mine, works every time
