Scared to feel whatever it is that I'm feeling, so I'm stuffing myself with food and wine (funny sidenote, part of it SW-friendly food!) so that I feel so full and stuffed and uncomfortable that I don't have a chance to actually feel anything else. This sucks.

You know inside your other head, the logical one, that no amount of eating is going to help you, that it is only going to make you feel worse and you really do not want that do you ??? Only you can overcome whatever it is. We can only be here to offer you encouragement. You are an attractive and sensible girl and you know what you have to do.......... If it helps to talk about your fears, talk, I am thinking of you and hoping that by now you are recovering, hugs xxxxxxx

It worries me that even though I never go off plan, and I mean never, I constantly think of food. I am planning my next meal before I have finished the one I am eating. This really, really worries me. I have developed other cravings. I constantly want to eat yogurt. I don't .I ration myself to 2 a day 3 on a bad day. Food has become the centre of my world and staying on plan is almost an obsession. I know it is not normal and that I should be able to approach this whole issue rationally and logically but I don't.

Thank you for sharing with us, and well done for being so honest with, above all, yourself! You know that recognition is already a step towards improvement (gosh, how Dr Psych do I sound?!). I think the problem with any weightloss programme or healthy eating plan (or diet, even though we know that SW is NOT a diet!) is that it does focus you on eating and food, in a way that for those of us who are trying to control or, ideally, get rid of, our cravings/unhealthy impulses find hard to deal with at times. There is no easy answer, and I think ideally we want to try and tackle our deeper issues in a separate way (counselling, this forum, books, other). You're making it so hard for yourself, when you go into this vicious cycle. You think about what you can or will eat, and what you can't, or "shouldn't", and you've read that planning is important, and you want to do the right thing. Then it takes on a life of itself, and gets a disproportional amount of attention in your life. Now, first off, let me say you're not "not normal", just..... you! Some suggestions - treat the food thoughts like any other thoughts. See them, accept them, then let them pass. Like bubbles, they're only floating and temporary. - Remember it'll pass! We addicts have periods of no control, of obsession, of unhealthy focus, but we've come this far and we're getting over it! - Sometimes, the only thing that may help (that's just me!) is give it all up for a moment, forget all about it, and do what the worst cravings tell me. Then forget about it and move on. (Again, just me, but on a bad day I can plan and eat EXACTLY the right stuff, and then still follow it up with a big stash of unhealthy things, so in the end I stop the forced discipline and let myself fall for a moment, then stop, and move on.) - Look at yourself! Your statistics on here, your figure, your brilliant loss already, the size of clothes you can buy now, you are already a slimmer, healthier, much more advanced you!!! So let go of the past. And above all, always remember, YOU ARE LOVED.

I agree with everything you have said. That is what worries me most I know what is happening to me and I still let it happen. I am obsessed. I am on here as often as I can be. I want to be totally immersed in the whole SW thing. It is ridiculous really. My life is not empty, far from it, so I am not trying to fill a void. For me to go off plan would be disastrous. That in itself is not really healthy. I can not ease up. I don't want to. The bottom line in everything for me is reaching goal. I have altered my goal weight twice already. Kristin I know you are right in all you have so wisely said and I am sure that eventually I will become more rational about my outlook on my new way of eating.

You have the willpower and determination already DESPITE all the cravings and urges and unhealthy thoughts, how brilliant is that!!! I think it's probably normal to be "110%" about something new and exciting, that's not necessarily a bad thing, so obsess away and enjoy! Learn all the syn values by heart, research new Healthy Extras, discover new Free Food, etc., and share! Come on here and tell us! Over time, it'll slot into your everyday life more and more and things will balance out naturally. Lastly, remember planning is a good thing - but also remember to let it go. You've had your breakfast, you've decided what you're going to have for lunch and dinner and in between, that's great. Now make a conscious effort to step back, release the thoughts, and let go. Good luck with everything, x

Just come back from a holiday in Germany, and had a lovely (if not always entirely SW-friendly.....) time! Enjoyed myself, enjoyed food and drink, but within reason. Did notice on way back (in car, in fact) how the emotional eating kicks in! Was really upset about leaving Germany and going back to England, and was just stuffing my face from morning til night! Didn't want to confront/deal with feelings, didn't want to be upset, just wanted to numb myself. Weird! Back home now, for better AND for worse, and feeling positive because I feel I WANT TO exercise, eat fruit, be active, etc. Back to counselling too next week which should be interesting! Love to all,

Been reading your posts Sue and Kristen and so much rings true for me too. Today I was feeling really anxious and so went on an eating binge (and I mean BINGE!) to stuff down my feelings. Now I feel bloated and sick... And really quite gutted about it. Like you Sue, I spend an inordinate amount of time on this site. Am quite obsessed really. I've been 100% since I started five weeks ago and feel awful that I've let the side down today. Ah well. It happens I guess. Going to try to claw back what I can between now and WI on thursday. Keep posting as we're all in the same boat, XXXX

We know exactly how you feel, and are always here. Like you say yourself, we're taking the scenic route to weightloss, and some of our "issues" will be slightly different to what other SW members experience. Well done for owning up to what you did, and realising that's what it was. As you can see from our posts, we know exactly what you're talking about! Hang in there, don't try to overcompensate, just start back on the SW journey right now. No recriminations, no punishment. Take care! :-)
