    I wrote to Slimming World

I wrote to SW asking them about the possibility of them starting here. W.W. is here. I would have lo ed to be a consultant/manager and would have had no problem staying in the U.K. for training.

This was the very nice, very polite reply I got.

    Hi Sue

Thank you for your email. Slimming World doesn't have any groups in Spain and has no immediate plans for moving our organisation there. The reason for this is that we would not be able to train, monitor and support Managers and Consultants to the degree necessary to give our members the service they deserve. We would therefore be jeopardising Slimming World's excellent reputation of which we are so proud.

It's lovely to hear of your commitment to Food Optimising and we realize this isn’t the reply you were hoping for but we are not looking to recruit Consultants for Spain. It's frustrating isn't it? We receive many requests, people from all over the world contact us and tell us that our Food Optimising system is the best and of course we wouldn't argue with this. You may have heard that we have many successful groups in Ireland and have recently ventured into Texas USA so who knows what the future will bring

The problem for us in taking Slimming World literally to the rest of the world is two-fold. One is the massive undertaking to responsibly train, monitor and support managers and Consultants overseas to give our members the service they deserve. The other is the complex business of currency, tax, language and legal implications for our books and services. We are a relatively small Head Office support function and our teams here would need to manage the development and support function for each new country in turn until we were established. So unfortunately, at the moment anyway, it will be one new step into an exciting new overseas world at a time I’m afraid! (I know – the wait is a killer!)

If it will help we do we have an Online service “Body Optimise” Slimming World’s groundbreaking, revolutionary service which is now available internationally! It’s perfect for:

    • everyone who can’t get to one of our warm and friendly UK-based groups
    • everyone who’s looking for a healthy, filling and delicious way to lose weight for good

Say goodbye to hunger and deprivation!

TBH, I thought that was the case anyway, certainly if you look at this board as an example. SW always has about 5x or 6x the people viewing than the WW board. Extra Easy really IS a simple path to weight loss.

    Hi Sue

Its a very similar reply to the one i got about having a group in Houston. ( see below) but at least they do get back to you with a detailed response, but from the 2 mails I guess they use a template with the bog standard details and personalise it to suit the mail

    Hi Val,

Thank you for your email about Slimming World in Houston.

As you can imagine, launching Slimming World in the USA is a great undertaking for us so at the moment we are starting small (and beautiful), looking first towards opening many further groups in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area before we then move on to the Houston area (which is our next targetted area!)

The problem for us in taking Slimming World literally to the rest of the world is two-fold. One is the massive undertaking to responsibly train, monitor and support managers and Consultants overseas to give our members the service they deserve. The other is the complex business of currency, tax, language and legal implications for our books and services. We are a relatively small Head Office support function in the UK and our teams there would need to manage the development and support function for each new state in turn until we were established. So unfortunately, at the moment anyway, it will be one small step at a time I’m afraid! (I know – the wait is a killer!)

If it will help we do we have an Online service “Body Optimise” Slimming World’s groundbreaking, revolutionary service which is now available internationally! It’s perfect for:

We can't predict what the future holds Val, but I will definately keep your details on file, and then as soon as we are ready to head to Houston you'll be the first to know!

Almost the same format, same content.

I agree that they take the trouble to let you know and that is a good point.

Makes me want to start my own little group of like minded friends, just to chat, exchange ideas and get weighed together, just as a social thing not as a commercial prospect.

So do I and I think one of the reasons they are so successful is because they control things so well.

Oh I rarely venture into Brown Thomas! But I'm sure I saw it scampering down Patrick Street!

I work just on the North Side of the City Center - about 10 minute walk from the city (Blackpool ) Seriously, why they didn't open on the South side is beyond me!

I've been here since November 08
