Tip Of The Day
My apologies if this has already been posted but I couldn't find anything when I used the search section. On the Slimming World facebook group they have started up a tip of the day thread & there has been some fantastic ideas
So thought I'd make a thread where we can all share tips/ideas here....

- How to get tasty crispy brown skins on your jacket potatoes.....I microwave my spuds for around 10 minutes in the microwave, then cover with foil & cook in the oven for around 30 minutes on gas mark 6. Take them out remove the foil, spray with frylight & sprinkle a little bit of salt over them. Oven cook for a further 10 minutes. They come out gorgeous & golden
- I have sachets of Butterbuds, these work out at only 0.5 syns a sachet, great for on the go or at work when you want butter on your jacket potato without having to worry about weighing out your butter to work out the correct syns.
- When cooking spaghetti I spray abit of frylight in the boiling water, this stops the spaghetti from sticking together.
- And I love to make syn free mashed potato by cutting up my potatoes, put them in a pan of boiling water with a teaspoon of mustard powder & 1 vegetable oxo cube.
- I weigh out all my cereals & my cheese into Healthy extra portions.Handy for those mornings when I am in a rush and do not have time to weigh them out.Also handy to know when I am running out of cereal & cheese as i know exactly how many bags I have got left. x
On those days where I want to be really stingy with syns, I spray frylight on my toast and stick it wet-side-down in a hot frying pan, usually after I've fried an egg... No need to even bother getting the Flora out of the fridge

The things we do to save on syns xxx
When doing batch cooking of soups instead of using up your tupperware put your soup into portion sizes into sandwich bag. Not only does it save room in your freezer for more goodies but means you still have your tubs to use if you need them
Also when I buy meat in plastic packs, I take the meat out of the packs and freeze them into portions in sandwich bags too. xxxx

I love that idea, my mum does it with apple sauce when she makes it and it saves sooo much space as they lie flat

Yeah it is brill hun. I had a new fridge freezer last week so really making good use of it now. I made the mistake of putting them into my tubs I had then all week at work was like oh no I need a tub to use lol!
Not got that problem now they are all in bags
I also was told if you wash your hands with a blob of toothpaste after chopping up strong foods like garlic, onion, chillies etc this get rids of the odour
And I also keep my wholemeal loaf of bread & wholemeal pitta breads in the freezer and take a couple of pieces out when I need them. That way you never have to throw it away

I have some frozen SW chips in the freezer for emergency chip fix...lol. cut and par boiled for 5 mins, then drained and cooled and freeze on a tray, then can bag up it to portions when frozen. Cook from frozen for around half hour on 200c
I have also been making up my own spice mixes and using old jars to keep them in - fajita, bombay mix - instead of the schwartz pre made ones. generally all the ingredients can be bought with supermarket own spices and ones that are needed for other recipes too. My spice rack is over flowing.
I too bag up meat into portion sizes in bags.
I have been asked if I wanted it to be... what do you all reckon?
