    complaining to a travel company

has anyone not got anywhere complaining to a travelcompany?

the short story is that we booked a trip with a travel company - it was false advertised and a total rip off. I want my money back or compensation at least.

Not doing very well with getting anywhere.

Where do i raise this if i dont get anywhere? Is it ABTA??

    Thanks, xxx

Being on this diet is like being on a wagon that goes at speed then slows down, but it may even stop or go in reverse for a short time, so dont get off the wagon! If you get off, get thrown off, or lose your place, run after it! If that doesn't work, get the next immediate wagon. Fight to stay on the wagon it will take you to your destination

Yup. Abta are the ones to go through if you aren't getting anywhere. You need to provide details of what yoiu were told you would get, and what you actually got to proove you were misold. Though travel companies do have alot of 'can't be held responsible if what we tell you is wrong' clauses in the booking terms & conditions that no one ever reads

If you don't get anywhere with ABTA, you could try writing to the travel column in one of the major newspapers (Times, Telegraph, etc.) as they quite often chase up these things on the behalf of a reader.

    Don't hold your breath Elle.

Travel companies are full of caveats and the small print is often heavily in their favour.

Unless they blatantly mis-sold, not offering an alternative or similar and it is NOT covered by the smallprint. Sale of Goods, Fit for Purpose etc.

    Can you elaborate?

No need to mention the company, just the circumstances.

We were advised a trip was 4 star luxury with lots of facilities and a final transfer to our airport.

Hotel was very poor (1/2 star at best) and hardly open. Pools had no water in and facilities advertised such as mud baths and asthma caves were not open.

Room was very poor with no tv.

Pick up not organised and we had to advise then when to collect us without us really knowing what time we needed to get there for.

It just felt a really big con for the lovely cost of £57 each.

Others feel the same way as I do and have written on Trip advisor. I have contacted them and they are complaining too. I just want a refund and the trip pulled from the brochure as it's falsely sold in my view.

I hope we get somewhere! I have sent the photos and fingers crossed!

Keep us posted. I like all customer-service issues (good or bad) just to see how others respond
