    Grey hairs grrr!

Grrrrr! Pesky things! Advice needed please...... I have naturally mousy brown hair which I have been colouring (not permenant) for as long as I can remember, usually red mahogany shades. Sometimes I'll go for brown for a bit of a change but it just looks so boring. Over the last couple of years my grey hair seems to multiplying overnight and the regrowth shows up really bad, especially as I've been using a brighter red permenant colour for the last 6 months or so..... What I'd like to know is do you think it would be better for me to go lighter so the pesky grey hairs don't show as much????

    blonde highlights?

I don't know really, my hair is probably like yours - mousy brown with increasing grey, but I tend to dye it with a semi permenant. I think grey seems to show up against red particularly badly . If you're using permanent colours, is there no-one who can help you just touch up the roots?

I asked this exact same question last year and have been blonde ever since. Only disadvantage is the speed with which the roots become visible again, otherwise I love it!

I found my first grey hair a few weeks after my 16th birthday. I have pretty much been dying my hair pillor box red or bright pink and purple since then as these dyes cover the grey perfectly. I accept this probably isn't a practical solution for everyone :/

I think the suggestion of highlights is probably is the best one - if your hair is different shades anyway the greys are far less likely to show up.

I agree.I have gone grey and everyone asks why.
Whats wrong with showing your age.If you look at a lot of older people who dye there hair (and yes you can tell if they have dyed it)it doesn't suit some.
As you get older it's best to go lighter.

Also going grey is one less thing to worry about.

I have never considered it "brave". I dye it those colours as I like the way it looks but a really positive side effect is that I have inadvertantly chosen how people describe me by it - I get referred to as "the girl with the pink and purple hair" rather than "the fat sarcastic one" or anything else.

Maybe if you aren't ready to go the whole way some streaks might be a good starting point?

I have to say I also agree that there is nothing wrong with grey hair. Some people have beautiful grey hair and it suits them perfectly.

I think that at the age of 40 I am too young to have grey hair, so I have a BIG issue with it!
Mine are persistent little bugg**s, I have mine highlighted and they are through within a couple of weeks. I have dark blonde hair and I have light blonde and light brown highlights in. It does hide them quite well and I notice them more than anyone else does.

There is nothing wrong with grey hair if you are happy with it - however, at which point you decide to "go grey", I don't know but I'm not ready for it yet!!

So, my advice is go blonde, highlights are your friend :-)

PS - I'd love to go red but not brave enough!!!

I guess as you ask the question you are young.I would say 30ish.
I started going grey when I was 35 and grey then made me look old so I dyed it brown until I was 45.Then I started dying it lighter each year.Once I hit my 50th that was it no more dying it for me and I like it grey as it suits me.
