Cabling is easy, once you manage to knit with the cable needle either behind or in front of your needle you've cracked it, honestly it's that simple.

The cable needle is like a small knitting needle you just slip a few stitches on, place at the back or front of your work & then knit from cable needle, easy peasy

Take your friend up on their offer, you'll not regret it.

try searching for videos on youtube. I used a combination of youtube video tutorials and a 1970s craft book to learn both cable knitting, and basic crochet.

    Hi Flibsey,

A lot of the UK yarns show the yardage on the ball band now as well as the weight. Or if you google to find a site selling the yarn you are thinking of using, then they often show the yardage on there as well. ('Cos, you might have already done all that...)

Nice pattern - very cute and unusual. I'd say go for it - start it now!

I've never seen a knitting pattern I want to make for myself as much as I want this one.

I am wondering, would it be short sighted to buy the pattern and make it in... say.. a size 14-16?! (I'm currently an 18-20 in knitting patterns, 22-26 in sewing because vanity sizing has never caught on in sewing patterns lol)

the time, materials and pattern are an investment.... but I reckon I can do it for about £30 ish. god knows how long it'd take me to knit the thing, but I love cables and am good at them...!

but is buying it all now a bad idea? or should I wait? I'm losing at a fairly steady rate which is nice, but sitll have no idea how long it'll take to hit a size 14.
Omg I want that jumper and I can't knit?!??! Wails......
