Slow cooker advice

Right I've just stuck all the ingredients for bolognaise in the slow cooker and stuck it on auto. Havent browned/cooked anything first. Will it work? I usually always brown mince but have done a Jamie Oliver chilli before (not slow cooker one) and he doesnt bother and the mince turns out lovely and soft.

Have put a tin of tomatoes and a bit of water in - will that be plenty of liquid?

i never brown anything before using in my slow cooker.
that should be plenty of liquid as it doesnt evaporate like it would normally. if its too watery take the lid off for a bit at the end :)

Thanks for this. Just picked up a new slow cooker from Lidl today. I have the makings of the SW Bolognaise standing by. Cycling the machine through it's first 60 min boil of half a liter of water.

When I clean it after that I will follow this advice. I had intended to brown it in a saucepan first but the more I can leave it to the slow cooker the better.

Regards,
Ian
