    Electric Soup Maker?

Just wondered if anyone here has an electric soup maker? One of my husbands colleagues says its the best thing she has bought in a long time. From what I understand you can shove anything in it, all at once, without using any form of oil then just leave it to cook. Much like a mini slow cooker. Apparently it prepares a smooth or chunky soup depending on your preference.

I was thinking it could be the perfect answer for SW lunches. As my fridge now always rammed with veg I could throw it together without anything naughty & enjoy a good hearty, Syn free soup each day without the hassle of having to watch over a sauce pan for half an hour, then getting burnt & covered in sloppy veg whilst electric whisking!!

Unlike a slow cooker it's not very big so doesn't make vast quantities & doesn't take forever.

    Very tempted!!!

You can make the soup chunky or smooth.

Lol! Didn't realise it was in the SW mag that I saw the advert. I knew I'd seen it somewhere & then DH came home talking about his friend at work who's got one. I reckon it could be worth a purchase as I love homemade soap too but can be faffed to cook it!

Personally I do not see any benefit over just using a pot (and a hand blender if you want them smooth) but a lot of people seem to like them. You can get them cheaper online than the SW "offer" apparently

I'd like one, just like the idea of putting everything in a pot & just leaving it, but I can't justify paying that amount of money for one.

I have one. I wouldn't have bought it myself but it was a gift and I use it on occasion.

Main advantages are that you can chop things really *really* roughly but then it blends it nice and smooth (I only have a £3 hand blender so always end up with random carrot lumps etc escaping when I do it by hand), and that you don't have to supervise it/stir it while it's cooking.

You just chuck everything in raw, add stock, pick smooth or chunky then off it goes, it takes about 20-30 mins depending on setting and how much ingredients you've shoved in. Only downside really is its quite noisy while its in blend mode.

It actually works out cheaper for me than cooking my soup on the hob, as we are on a gas prepay meter (due to the last tenants not paying any bills) so its actually very pricy for us to use the gas hob. Because the soup maker runs on electric (which we aren't on a pre pay meter for!) it costs us about half as much.

Plus you can leave it unsupervised until it is fully cooked and blended. (we don't get home from work til 8pm so rarely get dinner before 9, so something that can "cook itself" like this or slow cooker is a blessing! - gives me 30mins to rest before dinner)
