    Chiropractor

Has anyone been to a chiropractor for neck & upper back problems?

I have had AWFUL pains for the last 10 years. In the last 5 years I have taken to cracking my neck myself by pulling it awkwardly sideways and all sorts of ways, and getting my OH to crunch my upper back while I lie on the floor. I know it needs attention from a specialist as I have to do my neck several times a day and my back every evening.

Just wondering if a chiropractor can help to align whatever is mis-aligned properly. I know it would take a fair few sessions and muscle stretch work on my part to sort it out but is it worth the expense?

Would love to hear of chiropractic experiences especially do I have to take my top off? I don't want a random stranger seeing my flabby bits? Can i keep a vest top on? It is a major concern of why I haven't been earlier

I've never been to a chiropractor but I've been going to an osteopath for as long as I can remember and I swear by it. Every so often I pull something in my neck and with one visit to my osteopath (keeping my clothes on) she sorts it for me.

Ditto. You may also find that whilst your neck is hurting the problem is elsewhere in your back. I thought my neck was the problem when in was actually the middle of my back that had seized due to my lower back being injured, and so everything was overcompensating!

A few sessions of osteopathy made the world of difference & now I go once a month to get it all readjusted again.

I was in agony a week ago, walking and sitting we're extremely painful (this happens regularly but this time seemed to be the worst its been). My OH booked me to see a chiropractor because i couldn't face another GP visit where they send me away with codeine and tell me to go swimming and lose 2 stone to relieve back pain.

Chiropractor took some X-rays and they show I have a curvature in my spine. This can't be totally fixed, but he's confident he can reduce my pain and stop / manage flare ups. Two of my discs were being squashed by the curve, hence the pain.

I've been going to an osteopath for 3 years and really wanted to benefit from it, it's just didn't work for me. Had lots of NHS physio that hasn't worked and 4 cortisone injections in last 2 years that haven't worked but i feel like I've finally found something to fix me.

When I first went, i thought he was ripping me off because the appointments are about 10 mins where as osteopath was 45 mins but apparently this is normal. I'm so glad I went because I can move like a normal person and don't have to invent my own hilarious moves to avoid bending!
