Polite request

Would it be too much to ask people, when they post queries on Minimins, to come back and look at the replies and say something?

Doesn't matter what it is - thank you, rubbish, don't agree, good idea - anything!

Just so that those people who have offered comments, advice or help don't think they are talking to themselves.

Thank you!!

Noticed it too, especially when someone has took the time to type out a pretty big reply with some lovely advice and gets nothing back!

Yep seen alot like that... :/

It's not just me then. I was beginning to think that the cloak of invisibility I seem to have about me when in certain shops also worked online!

Ooh the cloak of invisibility, it's a wonderful thing you know!! I've seen it in action in the lunch queue. Someone comes along, sees a friend, starts talking to friend, hey presto! They are now 15 - 30 places ahead in the queue. Everyone else is totally invisible!!! smiley-angry019.gif

Apologies :hijack: you just triggered off a chain reaction in me. Off to make a cup of tea now and calm down! :D - (I do agree with your post x)

Oh I love it when people reply & it does irritate me when some don't even say thanks. As you say we take time to help/support others & I'd like views on my comments how they've got on etc. I do often look at a post & decide not to reply just because I'm not sure they'll reply, oh dear, I'm 'on one now'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with you it's polite to reply just to say thanks even x

Its just manors! x

Good thread !!!!

I find it so disappointing when no one replies, especially when you can see how many people have looked at your topic . It makes me feel as if whatever it is I have posted is boring........of no interest to anyone.

As has previously been said, it is so bad mannered,

Totally agree. It does get a bit disheartening when you're making an effort to help or offer advice, doesn't it? I also find it annoying when you start a subject, somebody replies with their own agenda and the thread goes off in a different direction......
Enough ranting from me, back to my spritzer! X

It disappoints and infuriates me when you put your heart and soul into answering people who post what a really serious issues to them and then all but ignore your response. The response might not be what they want to see but if that is the case they should not be on a public forum asking for advice.

I have answered a couple of threads recently where this has happened and quite frankly it puts me off entering anything other the most light hearted and surface stuff or that from people I know and trust.......sad isn't it.

it is annoying, but i know myself i lurked alot on here before i joined and there has been alot of advice that has not been replied to by the OP but its been useful to me as its a simular circumstance :) x

I did tell myself I was never going to answer a syns enquiry again, but I did today, with quite a lot of detail, and the original poster came back with thanks, so my faith in human nature is being restored!!

I haven't been a member very long, and I know I'm a "chatty" but I found myself talking to myself so much to start with, I almost gave up and went away. Lots of new people start and I try to make sure I say Hello on the welcome thread, and they ask questions....and then never come back. I find it very sort of disheartening. I don't usually come on to this part of the forum as I felt a bit lost, so I hope you don't mind me posting on this thread x

Post away................off topic is a good place to get all sorts of help that might not be related to dieting. It can be a very entertaining place to be.

Lots of people join for 5 minutes and for one reason or another do not come back to Minis.

I too find it very frustrating. xxx

Thanks, I shall pop on regularly now x:)

Must admit I've been trying to answer posts but am getting pretty much the same. No feedback at all. Posted what I thought was a witty reply to a returning newbie - nothing.
Given advice to someone about their losses - so far nothing.

I can understand why people sometimes read a question but don't bother replying. (which has been another complaint/criticism on this forum)

Sometimes people make a huge effort and go into loads of detail on their reply only to have no reply at all or be met by some defensive comment by the poster, as they don't like the answer or don't like hearing what it is they are doing wrong instead of taking on board the advice.

It sure is frustrating sometimes.....

I do quite often read a question without replying, but that is usually because (and this may be hard to believe!) I have nothing to say. Can't see the point of letting the original poster think they have received lots of replies, only to find they are from people like me saying "haven't a clue, sorry"!!

Feeling a little more generous than when I started this thread, I wonder if it is because new people cannot always find their way back to the posts that they made? I am going to assume that, in the spirit of generosity!
