Re: Actifry for Christmas

I use mine loads! Butternut squash is lovely. Peppers work really well too. I haven't tried any meals as such, so I'll subscribe here too :)

Yay - I got one too! Cooked roast potatoes and roast parsnips so far and they were great. Going to try a stir fry in it over the weekend.

Oh I love my actifry. I'm not very adventurous but do experiment with different oils and spices in my potatoes. One thing we really like is baby new potatoes popped in there in their skins. Bit of rosemary out of the garden and some sea salt and olive oil. IMMENSE!!

Its funny, i looked at these on Ebay the other day, going by the perceived logic of them only using a teaspoon of oil or whatever it is. I shall take a proper look at this thread, and may well invest in one. I have a deep fat fryer, never ever used, still in the box (bought just before i started weight loss) and i am considering turning it into a water bath for sous vide cooking (i have a vacuum sealer as well). I have done it on a hob in a pan of water and it works well. The actifry would be a logical next move it would seem.

That sounds lovely LTL - I'll have to try them. I'll report back on how the stir fry tastes.

I've had one since last Christmas. They are ace. Try. Chopping done potatoes into tiny chunks and start them off. After 10 mins add chopped onion, herbs, chops mushrooms. Cook for a further 5-10 mins till potatoes look done. Add 2-3 mixed eggs (dash if milk salt and pepper) cook till eggs scrambled.

Mmmmm bliss and easy to do

Sounds lovely. Do you use raw potatoes in it or do they have to be cooked before you put them in? Will defo try this...

It's not my recipe but they will be raw, just chop them tiny. If you try to cook precooked potato in there it will just go mushy :)

Thanks LTL. I've just been out to the shops and bought the ingredients for this - sounds lovely.

Fried some carrot chips in it - they were really lovely with some salt - made a very satisfying superfree snack :).

Had one of those chippers but couldn't use it (no good for people with weak arms/wrists/mobility issues).

So far I'm only chipping small potatoes but would imagine it's quite hard to press down the lever if the spuds are bigger.

BTW dazd - love the pic of you in your size 12 dress - fab!

Yes, a bigger spud is hard work. Don't get me wrong i had one a few years back and chipped loads due to using it in the pub kitchen i managed at the time (yes, my chef girlfriend at the time also had me as a minion (like Texty here in the challenges) to do her chipping, lol) It was great. But now i have weakened ability in my arms so cannot use one.

haha, thats made me blush like a girl again. :p
