    Kitchen essentials

I got a bit of money for Christmas this year and I want to buy some kitchen equipment like a food processor, blender ect... to make some healthy soups and stuff but I don't know where to start in regards to price and quality.. does anyone have any recommendations? Or any must haves that have been helpful on Slimming World? Thank you in advance. x

A stick hand blender. And one that has a bowl attachment for chopping onions etc

I have a full on big good processor and only use it once in a while.

I bought a blender in Magnet, 25. It is rubbish - the food doesn't slip into the blades so you have to keep poking it in, and it's hard to get out again.
The 15 one from Morrisons has been fine so far!
I had some really nice sharp knives for Christmas to make chopping up fruit and veg less of a task. I think a nice set of digital kitchen scales is my next buy so that I don't have to keep fiddling to re-set the silly plastic ones to 0 whenever I want to weigh my healthy extras. A lemon juicer and pestle/mortar are also good for crushing up things to give flavor to healthy foods.

I would say good kitchen scales and a food processor. My new essential is an Actifry - I had one for Christmas and I love it! I've been making SW chips, carrot chips, stir fries, roast veg - loving it!

I have to agree, hand blender is brill, I also love my slow cooker which I used loads in the winter & sometimes in the summer when OH is working & not home until late. I recently bought myself a 'nicer dicer' which isn't really a cooking item, but is brill for chopping up my food, it wasn't cheap, but I use it every day & it's brill.

I've just reserved a hand blender in Argos to pick up tomorrow, it's on sale at 12.99 which is a bargain

If you get some good knives remember to get something to sharpen them with. Knives don't stay sharp all on their own (whatever the adverts may say!). Sharpen them at least once a week - more often if you use them a lot. (Good chefs will sharpen them several times a day!).

I was bought a soup maker for Christmas last year and it's amazing! No splattering the kitchen with a hand blender lol. You just put whatever dry ingredients you want in with some stock, and it cooks, blends and is ready in 20 mins! You can also choose different settings to have the soup chunky, medium or smooth.
