Exercise - yay or nay?

I'm just interested in how many people do regular exercise while on the slimming world plan? According to the plan, you don't have to do exercise in order to lose weight - however, do any of you find that you lose more when you do move more? I personally exercise at the gym several times a week because I enjoy it, not for the weight loss benefits!

I think to start with its a good idea not to exercise as a gain could really xknock you back when in fact it could have been because you were building muscle. Personally I didn't do anything for the first three weeks but now I have started with an exercise DVD twice a week and got my wii fit back out so hoping that helps with this weeks weigh in :)

I don't go to the gym, mainly because of monies and the fact I can't drive, but I do enjoy exercising and try to do at least 30 minutes, 3 times a week. Lately I've been playing Just Dance a lot on the Wii, I also have a few exercise dvds! And if I can't be bothered to do either of those, I'll put on some music and dance about or go for a long walk. I'm not sure if it is effecting my weight loss, as I've only been doing it for 3 weeks now, but I enjoy it and would rather lose a little less weight but a couple more inches. :)

It's totally personal though, a woman in my SW group lost 5 stone without doing any exercise, so I guess it's not vital! x

Ahh good to hear! I did have a slow down in my weight when I exercised more frequently, and yes it did make me doubt everything I'd been doing! But as I enjoy it I'll carry on :)

It might affect your weight loss in the short term but this is merely water retention and doesn't last very long. You'll become slimmer even if you're not losing as much on the scales and as your muscle to fat ratio improves you'll burn more calories because muscles use more than fat, and hence you'll lose weight quicker! Also you are less likely to have issues with saggy skin/bingo wings etc if you exercise as you go along.
