Sounds very sensible. Why pay all that extra for someone else to put it into little paper bags!!

How much do the sandwich bags cost! Ha ha ha!

I always buy stuff like that from the pound/cheapo shops. I would not pay supermarket prices for boxes of sachets of porridge!

Interesting ( and, thanks for posting it )

    Actually, the maths is wrong.

I was given a packet of simple "sachet" porridge and took the weights and measures of it.
The weight of oats in those sachets is 1oz/27g so you would get 37 portions from 1kg of oats.
The rounding in the picture is inaccurate because it would equate to nearer 3p per portion, whereas at 27g per serving it would be 2p per portion
It requires a shy 6floz of fluid (150ml) to mix and takes 2 minutes in the microwave

Yes, I am being pernickety but there will be people who read the first post, not bother to think about its accuracy, pass it on regardless and that is how Chinese whispers is born!

I'll let my consultant know ,she posted it on fb as an example
just looked again at post and she says weigh out 28 35g into bags = he b never mentioned 27g weight .
and it is 2.6p per portion per 35g, so she has rounded it down x

She has simplified it to fit for a HexB
As for the rounding down ... should only really happen if it is .5 or under; anything over .5 should be rounded up ... but, as I said ... I'm being a pedant

But, the point still stands: it is misleading.
Those sachets are not all 35g in weight and the time it would take to microwave would be longer if using 35g of oats (and the fluid content would need to be increased too; if using milk, that could affect a slimmer's HexA levels )

I still think, as a lesson in economics, the message is a good one - particularly in these hard times! But, if promoting it from a SW perspective ... hmm, some 'artistic' license has been used e.g for her 3 lots of porridge (at 35g) I could eat 4 lots of porridge at 27g And from an economics point of view, mine works out the better deal (and, from a SW perspective too )
