Holiday strategies

Hi. So I'm sat in Gatwick, delayed (to be expected given we are flying to chambery) and I've just tucked into breakfast at frankie and bennies. I chose to have fruit salad and a bacon omelette. Which as you fellow slimming worlders know would be a good choice. But I'm still in the uk and not yet tempted by the delights of France.

we are going to a catered chalet, I considered self catering to keep me on track but chose against it because I don't want to cook whilst away. So I am expecting bread and cereal for breakfast, probably a toastie for lunch (there's a lot more bread in there than I normally eat) and then a reasonable meal on an evening. I plan to ask for some fruit to be available for afternoon tea and will use my skiing to work off any excesses. I'm also going to limit myself to 3 glasses of wine and the way I'm going to do this is to not top up my glass until it's empty. I'm also going to let myself have the odd crepe and pain au chocolat, after all this is a marathon not a sprint, I'm in this for the long haul and although I am loving the food and struggling to recognise it as a diet (the food is so good) I know that if I feel deprived I am likely to blow it and fall off the wagon big style.

it occurs to me that summer holidays are easy, grilled fish and salads near the pool, long drinks etc.

so I bought I would ask.......what are your strategies for high days and holidays?

I don't count dieting as part of a holiday. Yes, I try to make sensible choices where I can..... But holidays are to relax from the stresses of work & to be enjoyed. You can jump straight back on the wagon and be extra good when you come back. Holidays are for letting go a bit.

For me anyway.

I was away on a weeks holidays earlier in the year and I came back and weighed in. I was only up 1pound.

I tried to stick to sw as much as I could. Now I did have chips with most meals but I stayed away from desserts (this was easy as I don't have a sweet tooth) I didn't do any snacking during the day either. Drank plenty of water and walked a good bit but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I just had what I wanted really to be honest with you.

Enjoy your holiday :) x
