Totally gutted. I thought when Sue Townsend died I was sad but this tops it.

I grew up on Mork & Mindy, two of my all time favourite kids films are Jumanji and Hook.

The world is a poorer place. Addiction, suicide are such ugly things. Shows the darkness within :( :(
 
I too am devastated by the news. As a 90's kid, I grew up on the likes of Hook, Mrs Doubtfire, Jumanji and he really was a big part of my childhood. He made me laugh so much as a kid, and still does now.

It is sad that someone who made so many people so happy had stuggled so much to find happiness himself. As has already been said, depression and addicition are terrible illnesses. And it is heartbreaking that he must have seen suicide as the only option left.

He was one of the greats. RIP Robin x
 
RIP Robin Williams one of the funniest people in the world.
As a teenager I remember Mork & Mindy and even the episode of Happy Days
where the character of Mork first appeared.

He brought joy and laughter to so many. My grandchildren loved A Night at the Museum
when he played an American Civil War character.

He battled his addictions for a long time. Even Winston Churchill suffered from depression,
he called it "the black dog".

Sleep well Robin. The black dog can`t get you anymore.
 
This simple tribute from Disney really touched me and I even had a few tears. I have never felt so affected by the death of someone I did not even know.

He touched a lot of hearts. Hence being so moved I think. His daughter said that knowing their grief was shared by so many has helped her. Few celebrities were so open about their demons and that makes it all the harder to bear. Personally losing such an iconic childhood figure has profoundly affected me.
 
Omg it's despicable when people make idiotic remarks like "no sympathy" and "suicide is selfish"
People would never say it about diabetes or epilepsy,no one chooses depression,it's an illness like many others and no one commits suicide with a clear,conscious mind.
Every time I hear of someone taking their own life all I can think is that a poor tormented soul never broke free from the hell of depression and how utterly desperate and sad they must've felt:(
