needs to get a life
A couple of years ago I managed to run 5k on a tradmill, but my knee got sore, and only managed to do it a couple of times. Over the last two years, every time ive reached a certain point my knee has started to hurt. This time i was determined it was going to be different!

Ive been running on grass, using a running technique that stops over striding and heel striking. And still now and then i end up with sore knees.

Right through the four months of training, ive took it nice and slow. Towards the end, i stopped short of the 5k.

Yesterday I completed my first parkrun and done the slightly longer than 5k, at 31mins 53 seconds :)

Im the one getting lapped......

I did a lot of length strengthening and stretching... My muscles ache like a bi*ch today though!!

Congrats. I tried jogging a couple of years ago, was fine on the treadmill for months then tried the park run and I'm not sure if it was the hard surface or that it was a bit more hilly but after 3 attempts I started getting really bad pains in my shins. That put a stop to my jogging and of course I piled on the weight after that. I'm back to walking on the treadmill now but hoping I can do a little bit of jogging again once I've got my fitness levels up a bit. I remember my first park run I got beat by an 84 year old man, and I was maybe 31. The next time out I beat him though, was quite pleased with that. Best of luck with it, sounds like you've found a good technique!
