Anyone in Spain? - all the other threads seem to have ended....

Hi Bex & Welcome. I've posted on Brambilegs' fred.

Nice to have you here

Hey! I'm in Spain too and just starting Slimming World on my own as i have a fair bit to lose! I'm in the north-west in Santiago de Compostela but it looks like everyone else may be from down south!!!

I'd be happy to share support and tips with you :)

Morgan

Hi Morgan - lovely to see you here.
There were a few Spanish threads at one point, but all seem to be very quiet at the mo.
The only 2 that ever have any activity on are
http://www.minimins.com/slimming-world-overseas/191041-spain-free-low-syn-foods.html
and
http://www.minimins.com/slimming-world-overseas/303896-starting-slimming-world-spain.html
(Started by Brambilegs)

But these are both very quiet too!

You're welcome to come and chat on my thread - listed in my sig. There's another lady in Tenerife - Powla - who posts on there.

How is everyone getting on in Spain. Seem to have all gone quiet. I am 6kgs down since starting and that is with having a couple of bad days. Not bad for just over a month.

Caroline - well done chica, that's a great start.
I'm doing ok but struggling a bit at the mo. Went back to the UK last weekend to take a friend out for luch for her 60th.
Seemed to eat for England the whole time we were there as I was sooooooooo cold.
The eating seems to have carried on since we got back too as mum is with me for a holiday and that is always stressful for both of us.

How long is your mum on holiday for.? I know it cam be stressful with family staying. I am sure you will get back on track soon.

Mum went home this afternoon after 9 days here. :sigh:
She has dementia and now can't walk very much so it is stressful all round!
Going to chill for the next 4 days and see if I can get back to normal.

Enjoy your chill out you deserve it, it is always hard with family visiting but even harder for you with your mum having dementia.
I am sure you will get back on track again once you are chilled.
Have you got much to lose? Or are you just really maintaining now?

Thanks Caroline. No more to lose now - just maintaining (have been now for 16 months - Phew!)
I'm still slightly "overweight" when it comes to BMI but I'm a "big" lady in terms of bone structure.
And at just a couple of years off 60 I decided that any thinner and I would start to look scrawny.
Friends who have known me for years keep saying I'm too thin already as my face (& scraggy neck) really do show the differnece.

Not had much of a chill day today as things have gone a bit pear shaped regarding the re-homing of her cat.
But that's a long story - details on my fred.

Still got to do another 27 posts before I can read your threads, looking forward to being able to read it.
Well done for maintaining for 16 months. I don't agree with BMI, if I used that I would be having to lose nearly 5 stone instead of 3 and my doctor is more than happy with a 3stone target for me, I too am big boned.
Not easy to rehome cats here, so many need homes same as dogs. Try and chill out tomorrow.

Tell me about it! I have 3 adopted cats that were just dumped in the streets.

2 we got as 8 month old kittens from a rescue. They were thrown in a dumpster with their 4 siblings.
They both have deformities (very short "broken" tails) and no one else wnated the.
We've had them now for 5½ years and they are adorable.

Our latest we found by the bar last September. She'd been dumped in the village at 6-7 months old and already pregnant. So sweet and so friendly.
So I just scooped her up and took her home. She was covered in engine oil from living under a car. So she had a bath.
Have you ever tried to wash a cat? Don't bother. It took 2 of us to hold her down!

The older 2 are joined at the hip almost. Never do anything on their own and do everything together all the time.
They bully our new baby cat unmercifully. She spent 3 months living in the house with her own litter tray and she wouldn't come out at all and if they got in there was lots of fur flying.
I finally moved her out of the house after Xmas and she is now living in the kitchen (strange old Spanish house - where our kitchen is the opposite side of the courtyard from the main building). When she tries to use the litter tray in the garage there are still some hisses and they try to "inspect" what she is doing and she doesn't like that all. Mind you, at least the fur removals are now almost nil and in the last 2-3 weeks she has started to venture into the courtyard occasionally. She's been with us 6 months now!

Poor baby.

Lots of piccies of them here. As you can see - I adore my cats :)

So have you a limit to how many cats you will take? Have a friend who now has 8! I have none as not responsible enough and like to go away but I do cat sit my friends for her.
Have started the games threads, thanks for that tip. I will be able to follow threads soon.

Our limit is 2 !!!! :8855: Mr Pomm went mad when the third arrived 6 months ago, but has calmed down now.

Get playing those games - but in the meantime we can talk here ! :)

Sorry was off line for a few days, back on line now. Should have enough posts soon enough.
Playing a few games.
Was charting to a friend in the UK and they have a hard time finding chicken mince, so there are some advantages to living in Spain!!

Hiya Caroline - just noticed you are up toe 48 posts! You can come and talk to me on my fred soon!
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy

Hi everyone.

Been a long time since I posted. Left sw for a while and went to another well known diet group.
But got bored with it and have now signed back up to sw online. Really wish there was sw classes in Spain. But fingers crossed this group, the sw website and sw Facebook groups will keep me motivated.

slimmergirl2012 - Hiya chica and welcome back into the SW fold.
Lots of people I know tried the "dark side" here is Spain as there are classes to go to. But also got pretty bored and fed up with working points out etc.
Where abouts are you in Spain? Perhaps if there are enough of us fairly close together we could get together and have a private class occasionally.

Would be nice to meet up at some point. Although probably difficult to arrange.
I have another 2kg to lose before my doctor has recommended I come off diet for a month to let my body stabilise before I start again for the next 10kgs.
I have a feeling I will probably still pretty much follow slimming world but allow myself more treats, especially as going to UK next week for a long weekend...
