Hey Caza

When I have them I count the sweet muffins as free on a green day as Cous Cous is free. I only ever I have one at a time (I could eat more :-)). I syn the savoury ones I make and that’s only cos I add cheese.

They are really yummy....top tip - don't put too much water in and if there's abit of extra water after about 5 mins of soaking the Cous Cous drain it off. Sloppy, wet muffins are not a good look! Ha

xx

Okay dokey my lovely - are you able to get a single muffin tin or do you just just the ones with a few muffin tins on (the metal ones) - do you grease them and if so what with?

That recipe makes about 6 or 12 muffins depending on what size tray you have. I reckon you can use muffin cases if you can me bothered , otherwise just give the tray a spritz with frylight and your away.

I bake mine in those disposable foil little loaf tins (small loaf size, I guess, approx 8ins x 4ins and 2 inches deep). The cake comes out about 1 1/2 inches deep.

You will have to have the quark. The honey would not do, though you could substitute the sweetener with the honey if you prefer that.
I have just finished eating the mincemeat couscous cake which, out of the two I prefer!
I'll put pics up next time I make either.

i tried the basic cous cous muffins with vanilla mullerlight, but found them to be a bit yuck- just tasted like sloppy couscous with vanilla mullerlight on (which i dont particularly like) however i might have a go at the lemony ones, they sound nice!

Nope Caza, I don't use baking powder...just as the recipe.

You might want to make some and see how you feel, whether you need more sweetner etc...also try different flavours but as I said before the only tip I have is not too much water.

I've brought some almond essence this week so I'm going to try it with a cherry yogurt? Who knows...it might be fab!!

There is a thread on here somewhere (I can't seem to find it) which is the official decision from SW about cous cous cake.

They said that because the cous cous is being made up as the packet directs and then having ingredients added to it it is fine to treat the cous cous as free. I think they said that once the cous cous was made up (with water) it was down to the consumer to decide what goes in it.

Therefore you don't need to syn the cous cous in cous cous cake!!

Gemmy Lou is right. I can't find the thread either but one of our members wrote to SW headquarters and they responded basically saying that couscous is still free as long as you prepare it as per instructions on the packet. What you add to it is up to you.
I think that it has to be synned if it's actually ground up like flour.
