You can make jelly 'sweets' which taste like thick jelly and hold their shape like gummy sweets.

You get the jelly powder and make it up to 1/2 pint water, then add 3 tbsp of gelatin powder (or two leafs) and mix. Pour into trays (I used a Tupperware dish) and cool. Put in fridge to set. I cut mine into snakes, put them in a pot and take them to the cinema. Makes me feel like I have sweeties too! 2 syns for the whole lot!

ive been tryingto find a stockist of agar agar powder as you use it the same as gelatin in this way and its got no taste but 80percent fibre and bulks out your tummy its called kanten in asia apparently its a new diet craze x

Am trying this now - poured Blackcurrant flavoured jelly / gelatine mix into ice cube tray and heart shaped ice tray - fingers crossed - usually I can detect gelatine a mile off - fingers crossed the Blackcurrant masks it a bit for me....... thanks for the recipe x

Aimee & Michael both loved these ....... I found them nice and didn't taste the Gelatine this time.. :)

Just made some with raspberry jelly in long "finger-like" ice cube tray. Can't wait until they're set!

I made mine with lemon / lime. took them to the cinema and my 4 year old ate half the tub!!!

Yay! Jelly sweets. Thanks for the great idea i will be trying these for sure. :) x

Hi All

I am trying this tonight to control my sweet tooth over the three day weekend - wish me luck.

Also, how long do they stay fresh for? I was thinking of trying to make a batch of various flavours all together.

Thanks

Thanks for this- sounds worth a try :)

How come it is 2 syns for the whole amount? If the sugar free jelly is 1.5syns when made to 1pt wouldn't be the same with less water? Isn't gelatine free??

I cant remember where i got this recipe from and it was 2syns. maybe they have changed syn values since then?

Ah, cool. Maybe there are some of the sugar free jellies which are 2 syns? I reckon if it's 1.5syns made up 'normally', it can't be any different with added gelatine :)

well enjoy them. i love the lemon / lime ones. not had them for a while as i had over indulged :jelous:
