Actifry

Hi folks.

Long time lurker, regularly popping on here to nick receipes, thankyou all!

I just bought an Actifry. Expensive i suppose for what it is, but wow, it doesn't half help!

I did SW chips yesterday using frylight, they weren't bad. think i need to let them dry a little more. Tonight i chopped some chicken breast, 1 green pepper, 1 onion into 8ths (was going to be 1/4s but they were too big!) sprayed some frylight into a bowl and added a decent amount of paprika. poured in the veg and chicken and mixed it up. put the lot into the actifry and cooked it for 10 minutes. added a tin of new potatoes.

Syn free and very nice thankyou very much!

I bought my actifry last week and have used it every day! Syn free roast potatoes with some garlic were amazing, chips are great too. I have cooked turkey sausages and spag bol in it as well as a chicken stirfry. Even my partner is raving about it! Best money I have ever spent! Would love to know some more sw adapted recipes though.

I really want one of those, sadly my kitchen is too small but pleased to hear some good reviews for when I eventually have a decent sized kitchen x

Hi Takeawayqueen

I've seen a scotch egg recipe on here using an actifry which I though was quite clever. You take the paddle out until the scotch eggs are "set" and then add the paddle to brown them evenly.

I did diced potatoes sprinkled with piri piri flakes in mine last night. Delicious!

Hi Stargirl....yeah they are a bit bulky but dont really take up more space than my deep fat fryer used to and no scummy greasy marks on the countertop when you move it lol You will be delighted when you get one.

Jobud, I have never even seen a scotch egg lol let alone tasted one but I must get round to that :)

Bumping this thread as I want more suggestions on what to do with our Actifry! We're loving it so far. Bonus points if you have vegetarian recipes. :D

Bumping as I've just bought one and am super excited about it (I am that sad, although it cost enough so I'd best enjoy it!!). Made some normal chips and they were lovely. What do you do in yours?

My boyfriend and I can't decide wether to buy an actifry so pleased its been bumped :) come on guys! Share your recipes. I'm not buying one if all I can do is chips

Do you just not use the oil in the actifry to keep it syn free or do you still have to use oil?

Few squirts of fry light :)

I made potato croutons in the actifry yesterday to go in my free lentil soup. They were super crispy and yummy! I would say though, don't spray the frylight into the actifry as it gums it all up eventually. I spray the bits before I put them in.

Looks like I'm digging out the actifry then. I assumed I'd need to use the usual spoon full of oil so have resigned it to the junk cupboard!

I brown off my meatballs in it, without the paddle then put it back in and add sauce ingredients and let it cook away. saw a lady somewhere else that did egg fried rice in hers and it looked lovely.
oh and I did salt and pepper chips in it too x

Just did egg fried rice and it was amazing, just like the takeaway rice! For two of us I used 150g basmati rice (dry weight, then boiled and cooled) and put it in on its own for 5 minutes. Then added 1 tsp sesame oil (2 syns), a glug of soy sauce and two beaten eggs and put it on again for 6 minutes. Yum yum yum! Next time I'm going to start with some chicken and vegetable to make a chicken fried rice.

I've not used mine because I though you had to use oil no matter what. Oh I've totally missed out! Fry light is the way forward! Going to get mine back out ! Xxxx

I made the fried rice it was exactly like the chinese.

My rice was a bit hard so dont think i cooked it before i let it cool enough. Bit of a nightmare to clean the actifry the egg was stuck every where but it was very nice x
