cheese onion potato pasty

JackieN

One day at a time, one step at a time
Following on from Lynnes lovely corned beef pasty. I made a cheese, onion and potato one which would be free if using the pitta as a HEXB and the cheese as a HEXA on green/EE lovely hot or cold

1 Asda or co-op wholemeal pitta bread (HEXB)
1 HEXA grated cheese
1 medium potato diced
1/2 knorr stock pot (vegetable)
1/2 onion diced
1 beaten egg

I microwaved the diced onion, and potato in the knorr stock pot with a little water until cooked. mashed it with a fork added the grated cheese

toast the pitta for one min as it then splits easily

stuff the pitta with the mixture

close pitta back up

brush the top with beaten egg and bake in the oven on around 200 for 15-20 mins until golden brown

It was delicious hot or cold

that sounds gorgeous.. never thought about putting a pitta in the oven to bake.. great idea.. will have a go!

the beaten egg brushed on top makes it not really taste like pitta bread it really really is delicious and a fab lunch or main meal :D

Honestly Becky you must try these, they are easy to make and taste so nice. I think I preferred the cheese onion potato one to the corned beef one and loved that. They are even fabby cold :D xxxxx

I now want one of these with sw chips and beans, real comfort food :D

I made them the other day for hubby. He thought they were pasties :D honestly they are delicious. The beaten egg brushed on the top before baking seems to make them not taste like pitta :D
