Hello everyone!
I've just bought myself a smoothie maker. If you're like me and get a bit bored of eating the same fruits all the time I think this could help with extra easy. If anyone else has any great fruit or vegetable recipes/pictures please post them :)
I'm going to be making new ones all the time now especially as summer is apparently coming... !

This morning I made a chocolate banana smoothie:

One packet of options carribean coconut hot chocolate - 1.5syns (I think!)
Two bananas
One apple
Two vanilla muller lights
Some ice cubes
Dash of skimmed milk from healthy extra if needed

Yummm!
This made enough for one huge serving or two/three smaller glasses.
Sorry if this has been posted before I'm a newbie!
It wasn't around long enough for me to take a photo but it tasted lovely

mmm sounds delicious... are fruits made into a smoothie free? I may be wrong about this but when I used to go to group I think our C said they had to be counted as syns or something like that... sorry it is a vague recollection so if anyone can shed any light on it for me that would be great :)

Yep think it is Nettie. It's because it's easier to over eat when fruit is pureed. I think the syn values for pureed fruit is in the back of our books.

Yes deffo need to be syned..and with the amount in that smoothie it would be pretty high..all fruits you cook/blend have to be syned im afraid :-(

Sorry Vicky it all sounds lovely but you need to syn the fruits. So 2 bananas ( 5 each ) and an apple (2.5) will give you 12.5 syns plus 1.5 for the options takes you to 14.

Does anyone know if a vegetable smoothie would be ok? Thank you!

Veggies are ok. It's kinda confusing, there are a few theads about this on here if you want to read up more on the topic.

I never really understand it... If I was going to eat 1 apple why cant I blend 1 apple... I wouldn't be eating anymore. I understand if it was orange juice as I could drink pints and pints of fresh orange juice but I don't even eat one orange a week. The science of fruit hey!

It doesn't fill you up as much, so although you may not then eat another apple, you would probably eat something else.

I don't 100% get it either but slimming world works and they wouldn't ask us to syn these things for no reason,

shame as this recipe sounds lovely, although if it does make 3 servings you could always share it with others for 4.5 syns a smoothie

This has now just got me thinking about how to make a nice veggie smoothie! Could do lots of carrots with maybe one apple?

I can't understand how you have to syn the fruits, I started back at SW just from home on Monday and I've been having a smoothie for breakfast every day no way am I counting the syns, if I didn't have a smoothie then I would basically eat no fruit!!

i have had the following

1 banana, 10 strawberries and 1 vanilla muller light
1 banana, 10 strawberries, handful of blueberries and 1 vanilla muller light
1 small mango, 10 strawberries and 1 vanilla muller light

All have been shared with my kiddies, and that's all I've had for breakfast and not picked at anything until lunch!? Surely this is healthy!?
cant be that bad I've lost 1lb already!?

I read that they are mainly bad too because it takes fibre from some fruits by juicing, can increase the sugar levels as its released from the fruit and the acid from juice can be bad for teeth. But if they are causing no harm or weight gain to you I personally dont see a problem :) it's like the smash pizza argument, is it free or syn!

Juice is all the calories and none of the fibre. Smoothies are at least the whole fruit but I heard/read/was told that when you blend the fruit the sugar is broken down in a different way than if you eat it so makes a difference. Also, psychologically, drinking doesnt fill you as much as eating

I can't understand how you have to syn the fruits

Because that's the slimming world plan. It's great that you feel it works for you but for many people drinking a smoothie made of a banana, 10strawberries and a yogurt would not fill them up for long, whereas the process of chewing and swallowing a banana, 10strawberries and a yogurt add to the feeling of being full. Drinking involves no chewing at all so your brain doesn't get the same signal it does when you've eaten the fruit.
There is a great deal of science and research that goes into the plan, everything is done a certain way for a reason to protect your weightloss.

It is easy to get around this. Blend either water, cranberry Light Choices (or similar) and oats or ff yoghurt, fromage Frais, or Quark. Add Options/ice cubes if required. Chop fruit and stir in, eat with a spoon or a wide straw. X
