Meals (with meat!) on a budget!!

Has anyone got any ideas for cheap meat meals on a budget?

I know jacket potatoes and pasta are cheap but hubby likes his meat
and it makes my life easier is if I cook us the same thing.

All ideas will be welcome.

Would he be open to eating quorn? That is sometimes cheaper, I use the asda meat-free range and it really is tasty.

I buy my chicken breast from a local indian supermarket, you get so much more for your money, by the time it is diced you get 3 times what you would in a little asda tray for less the asda price!!

Failing that I buy the 3 for £10 range. pork loin steaks are tasty you usually get 6 in a pack so 1 each means 3 meals. A cooked chicken can make SO many meals- pie, curry, casserole anything like that- it doesnt all have to make a 'sunday dinner'. Mince (less than 5% fat) can work out at being a tad expensive but if youre making a bolognese or chilli you could do 50/50 meat and quorn to bulk it out or just load it with veggies. I also use quite a lot of the cooking bacon pieces, its actually usually nicer for meals as its a little thicker than normal rashers, goes great into soups, beans, omlette, pasta, sandwiches.

Thanks for the reply.

You`ve given me some ideas there. Not sure how he`d
be with quorn but I suppose if I disguised it 50/50
with beef mince the he may not notice!! :)

Never thought of going to an Indian supermarket.
I`ll have to see if there`s one local to me.
I suppose a Chinese one would be ok as well.

If you add a stock cube to your quorn mince when cooking it gives it an even meatier taste. Quorn has become a lot nicer recently and is really tasty, I rarely use mince now as it can be really expensive to buy 5%, its also really handy as it can be cooked from frozen so if you decide you want it for tea you dont have to wait for it to defrost.

Our indian market also does mutton and goat which is really tasty and can work out quite cheap too, lovely for a curry.

I know not everyone likes it, but I do a liver and smoked bacon casserole which me and the OH love, and liver is cheap :)
