Mash

How do you make your mash??

I used to use LOADS of butter, obviously don't want to be doing that anymore.

I tried lighter than light mayo and some skimmed milk whch was ok.

Interested to see how others do it xx

If I'm totally honest, normally if I know I'm doing mash I just use butter and save some syns for it (there are some things you just can't make taste the same!) but do half potato, half butternut squash, then it feels a bit healthier. But if it's going with something full of flavour and i don't need to taste the mash all that much then semi-skimmed milk or creme freche.

Crème Freche is a good idea!! Never thought of that.

I agree I don't have it very often so maybe a few syns for the butter wouldn't hurt :) xx

For me it's vegetable stock. Make up about 100 - 200mls of veg stock from a cube, depending on how many spuds you have, and then mash without the stock but then whip in the stock with a wooden spoon, it makes it really, really creamy in texture and the stock adds flavour.

I am going to try this. I usually use stock cubes to add flavour in a lot of my meals but this I have to try :)

I whip mine with a wooden spoon but don't use stock my OH says it's the best mash he has!
