Hi I've got this recipe that all savoury people will love!! Ready in 10 mins!!

first take a potatoe peel the skin off.next cut the potato in half long ways

next take your potato peeler and peel the whole potato into thin strips.

next take a dinner plate and lightly spray fry light on the plate.

Then spread your strips on the plate giving roomin-between

then lightly spray the top on the peels again.

place the plate in the microwave for 4 mins or until brownish colour

then take a knife and lift the peels (now crisps)

then put them on tinfoil and add your flavour

i choose simple salt shake them up then put in plate and enjoy!!!

these are very nice and syn free

Don't forget that these technically aren't syn free - it counts as a tweak I'm afraid. Still better for you than fried crisps though I'm sure.

I really don't understand how some of these things are tweaks - I mean, that's just potatoes which are sliced and cooked and seasoned! How on earth is that different from making syn-free SW chips? That is also potatoes that are sliced and cooked and seasoned, surely. Both recipes use frylight as well so no difference there.

I wouldn't count these crisps as syns, but then of course I'm clearly no expert!

Thanks for the recipe anyway, looks good to me...

I think it's because that you would only eat a couple of potatoes to fill you up, but you could easily eat 10+ potatoes when making them into crisps! Their filling power is completely diminished when cooked like this, so I think SW require these to be synned for portion control!

On the other hand, I don't think speed foods turned into crisps are as bad? Like beets, etc?

I understand your thoughts here, but the amount of thin crisps one gets from a single potato means, if anything, you're really stretching out a potato from a single mouthful into at least ten minutes of crispy pleasure. This being a tweak, for me, makes as little sense as the sudden increase in syns when simply mashing a banana. I'm sure that moderation is the key: if you're wolfing down 2kg of maris piper a day, liberally drenched with two bottles of spray light, I can see the issue. Thinly slicing a potato and microwaving it doesn't ring any alarm bells as far as I'm concerned, and risks Slimming World tipping over from 'sensible mindset' into 'mystical cult' territory.

Our Consultant has just posted tonight on our group Facebook page about syn free crisps being a tweak. I don't get it either, if you have one potato and slice it thinly and make crisps, I don't see how that is different to eating that same potato any other way. I also saw a recipes for spring rolls, made from lasagne sheets, and that was a tweak too. I would only have one spring roll with a meal, so I wouldn't syn that either.

I have tried these sprinkled with salt, really nice! I don't syn them, but then only made a few using one or 2 potatoes.
